I feel compelled to share my deeply frustrating experience with 2nd & Charles in Kennesaw, Georgia. My recent visit to this store, which ultimately led to an official complaint, was nothing short of disappointing.
I arrived at the store with high hopes on September 3rd, eager to sell a valuable "World of Warcraft" sword and a collection of DVD and Blu-ray discs. The initial enthusiasm from the employees soon faded as they accepted our items for evaluation. Little did we know that this was the beginning of a long and arduous ordeal.
Communication from the store was virtually nonexistent for nearly two weeks after dropping off our items. When we finally reached out to inquire about the evaluation, the response was underwhelming, to say the least. The offer for the sword was insultingly low, and they claimed the DVD/Blu-ray collection held no value.
Our attempt to retrieve our belongings turned into a circus. The staff seemed utterly disorganized and could not locate our records. They even alleged a contract violation that was never presented to us in the first place. Our concerns about potential theft were summarily dismissed, despite the presence of security cameras.
The involvement of Regional Manager Mr. Desmond Miller did little to alleviate our frustration. While we did eventually recover the sword, it had been defaced, and the DVD/Blu-ray collection was allegedly recycled.
What's most infuriating about this entire experience is the utter lack of transparency, accountability, and professionalism demonstrated by 2nd & Charles. Our trust in this establishment was thoroughly shattered.
In summary, my experience with 2nd & Charles Kennesaw was a textbook example of customer service gone terribly wrong. I left the store with a sense of disillusionment and the nagging feeling that my valuables had been mishandled.
This review also serves as a formal complaint and notice of loss. I urge 2nd & Charles to seriously reconsider their approach to customer service and rectify the glaring issues that...
Read moreI want to preface first by saying Iâve shopped here for several years. I enjoy browsing the quiet aisles, buying books and dvds as well as the occasional Knick knack. I go every 1 month or so and spend on average about $5.95 to 10.95 for a used book or dvd. I occasionally luck out on clearance. I decided this week to sell a bag of books. Most were primarily self help/discovery, then some classical style and fantasy as well. I also threw in some undated journals that I never utilized. It was about 15 or so books so I was hoping for around $2 each just based in pricing in the store. I was so disappointed to hear that cash offer was $2.25 and credit offer was $4.25. I was told that nonfiction wouldnât yield much but I wasnât expecting less than $5 for everything. I wish I would have understand the process more and read some reviews as well, because I didnât even yield enough to cover the cost of one book I wanted. I wish it was a set price for paperback, hardcover, etc.. Although it says no returns after acceptance, there should be a way to get back books that come back no âvalueâ. I wish I would have went with my gut and just rejected both offers and took my books back and sold them on an app. Iâve actually felt so down about it since it happened but whatâs done is done. I know now that Iâll never sell here again. For the first time, I left without purchasing any books. I did pick up a few clearance dvds however they ended up not being bogo free as the table sign advertised and then I wasnât even able to utilize my credit offer of a whooping $4.25. I was told it could take up to an hour to apply and I had already waited 20 mins for the processing. Iâve learned from the experience and if ever in a similar situation Iâll speak up, but Iâll be taking a break while I decide if I want to support the business again. Iâd rather pay those prices for books on Pango direct to individual and they get that money than someone else experience that kind of lowballing trying to sell...
Read moreIncredibly mistreated! Brought in a box of buyback books. When I put them in the bins and met with the lady behind the counter, she looked at two books and said, âwe canât take any of these, they are covered in mold!â I was completely confused. I said âthey are older books but they are not moldy.â She then replied âwell, theyâre dusty, we will not be accepting them.â Now I was not in need of the cash but I do love to bring in books, get a coffee and walk around this shop while waiting. It has become an experience for me. However, this interaction changed the entire trajectory of this visit.
I gathered up my books and placed them back in the box I brought and began to carry them out. Now I might add, I had approximately 30+ childrenâs books from when my son was very little. As I started towards the door, the bottom of the box broke way and collapsed onto the floor. So here I was, sprawled out on the floor attempting to piece together the box and the books while guests walked all around me. I was about 3 feet from the buy back counter where this lady and another woman watched the entire time cutting up and chatting. Not once did they offer to assist me nor ask someone else to help. I finally realized, the box was unsalvageable and therefore, found myself stacking the individual books on a float and rolling them out the door. I would say this entire process was about a 30 minute timeframe. I went home and looked in the back of my car to investigate these âmoldy booksâ and was even more shocked by their condition.
I called the store and asked for the manager, only to find out, the manager, Maria, was the lady who âhelped me.â Needless to say, I will NEVER be back to ANY 2nd and Charles.
I posted a few pictures to show the quality of these 20 yr old books. I even emailed corporate and sent a videoâŚ. No one has...
