Quality: As I grow older, I've realized more that 'you get what you pay for'. People will tell you that Haverty's is overpriced. I don't think this is the case. For years, I've purchased furniture at furniture outlets, or Rooms in a Box, and the like -- and without fail, the furniture from those stores is falling apart after a few years of use. Hinges sag, bolts loosen, etc. Furniture made of MDF or soft pine -- and those box stores all sell about the same junk.
I inherited several pieces of Haverty's furniture over the years from my grandmother's estate as she downsized; and they're all well built, solid, and look and work like new a decade or more after she initially purchased them. I bought my first NEW Haverty's piece - a dresser - about 6 years ago, and - like the other stuff - is still exactly like it was the day it was delivered, even after daily use. So, you pay a little more, but you'll get pieces of furniture that won't be falling apart a few years down the road.
Experience: You know how it goes - in 'those other stores', you walk in, and 3 or 4 sales people in varying degrees of professional dress lick their lips as they race each other to greet you at the door in rather creepy style. You just feel the sharks circling you when you come in. Then they follow you around trying to be helpful, while really just crowding you, and making you uncomfortable.
I went into Haverty's this weekend - Labor Day weekend - and was helped by Vince; he greeted us warmly at the door (none of that rediculous saleman race to the door), well groomed and in a good looking suit. He was very friendly, directed us to the areas of the store where we would find the types of items we were looking for, and left us alone. He would come check on us from time to time, answer questions, get us dimensions, prices, etc - and never was pushy with us. He even moved furniture around in the showroom so that we could see how different pieces would look together. He never looked annoyed, he never pressured us to buy things we didn't want, his knowledge of their products was excellent, and he helped us find everything on the floor that we were looking for. We actually ended up buying almost everything on our shopping list on the spot, and - I just never do that.
For me, it's really become about quality, and experience - and Haverty's offers both. And - at the end of the day, their furniture prices are not THAT much more than the junk you find at the 'other' places. Rugs, Lights, accessories? Those DID seem overpriced for sometimes poor quality; but - don't go to a furniture store for a rug. Go buy furniture.
Thanks for a great experience,...

My table and chairs will be replaced at no charge and they also changed protection plan companies. I truly appreciate the quick response and solution from Ian, with Haverty's. Thank you!
I bought a Kitchen Table and Chairs 2 years ago. I bought from Havertys because I thought I was getting good quality furniture. The sales lady sold me on the Guardsman Protection Plan stating that Havertys/Guardsman would fix any thing that was scratched, dented, or broken and if they couldn't fix it then they would replace my furniture free of charge within the first 5 years. That was an out right lie! I noticed a few months ago that one of the chair legs was loose and when I turned it over, I discovered that one of the legs was split and had been nailed and glued back together. This must have been done at the factory or either by the tech when my furniture was delivered. Not sure.
I put in a claim to Guardsman and was told that they would give me $90 and my protection plan would end, or I could ask for a replacement, which I did. Today, I received an email stating that my options are again. $90 and my protection plan would end, or they would give me $213 which is the amount I paid for the chair to purchase a new chair. I would have to return the damaged chair and my protection plan would end. Or if I wanted to take the $213 and keep my chair I would have to pay them $60! Why? I have already paid for the chair! I wouldn't mind taking the $213 and purchasing a new chair, but they no longer carry my chair.
While I was putting in a claim for my chair, I decided to go ahead an put one in for my table top, which has chunks out of it. My table is always protected by placemats or a tablecloth, so I have no idea how these happened. (See picture). Since I put in my claim that I didn't know how it happened, Guardsman said that it was normal wear and tear. I called them to tell them that it was not normal wear and tear, and was then told that since I didn't put a reason for the issue, then they had to classify it as normal wear and tear and I couldn't put in another claim for it because I can only put in one claim per item. Again this was a lie from the sales person at Haverty's. She told me that I could replace it or fix it as many times as needed with the 5 years of my protection plan.
I am so disappointed in the quality of Haverty's furniture, their sales people, and the Guardsman Protection that Haverty's HIGHLY recommends. I will never buy from them again or...
Read moreAfter shopping many furniture stores, I have found the one. Tina D., sold me 4 beautiful Accent chairs I use for my business office. Tina's customer service was hands-on, now on the other hand the delivery service struggled our 3 hour window continued to get adjusted through out the day, until it rolled into two days later. Needless to say I was frustrated Tina indicated it was out of her hands and I felt now that you have my money all customer's service goes out the door. I didn't let the service obstruct my vision for quality furniture and decided to surprise my mother and step dad in Conway, AR with a shopping trip to Haverty and I purchased oversized swivel chairs and a huge recliner our salesman was a perfect gentleman and the delivery services as promised. Hopefully third time was a charm back in the City of Kennesaw, Monty our now salesperson sold us a L-shaped sectional, 1 oversized swivel accent chairs, and two black matching oversized swivel chairs and the ETA was quoted prior to Christmas 🎄 I get it! No real promises could be made these days due supply chain. Well they delivered on the L-shaped sectional we love it! Okay delivery of all chairs schedule before Christmas awesome sauce! I have guests for the Holidays Yay! Delivery made but they're missing one of the matching chairs I was told it was mistagged. OK its still before christmas and before guests arrives. Okay missing chair scheduled for Friday , 22nd now guests are in town and was home for the delivery. The drivers show up to inform us the chair isn't on the truck, but there could be a possibility it maybe at the back of the truck and they would continue on route and circle back at the end of the day. Okay great I'm hopeful. Indeed the driver call and they return as promised with a chair, they bring it into the house remove their boxcutters and to our surprise it's the wrong chair. WOW is all could say, someone is looking for their chair and its sitting in my home. So the question is where is my chair? Monday, December 26th. I will be visiting the store this morning to locate my chair even, if I have to rent a penske truck, my chair comes home today! Keep me in prayer....
