Edited since my original was taken down. Ownership is a joke and they don’t care about anyone but themselves. The business has multiple people as owners/management even though they’ve never managed or ran a retail store before. The old manager left almost two years ago and an employee that’s been there for 10 years took that position. He hired someone after talking about it with the other stores and management/owners. After he hired them ownership said he shouldn’t have hired them because our store didn’t have enough payroll. During all this they were having trouble finding employment for the UH store. They sent that employee to the UH store to work even though they were our employee. When they made our manager fire them for no reason, that employee went to UH to ask if they could work there instead since they obviously needed coverage. They said no. So our manager had to fire someone simply because they couldn’t figure out their finances and refused to be transparent with him. Then they went ahead and told all the employees it was specifically his fault that employee was fired. Immediately after this they REQUIRED our manager to send me and another employee to the UH store multiple times a week so they would have coverage. If we said no (because it was 30 min to an hour to get there) then our stores payroll would be cut. I quit because of the level of unfairness, lying, and gaslighting of our employees. They treated the Kent store differently than the other stores (which employees of other stores have AGREED WITH), and it wasn’t our manager at all telling us this. This is what we saw and experienced. Every one of us. The Kent store is treated differently and it doesn’t matter how often someone would bring it up. Employees have tried to talk to ownership and they always just said that’s not happening and refused to even listen or take responsibility for anything, then would turn around and say “if you need anything or have any concerns feel free to talk anytime”. Ownership actively ignores employee problems and concerns that have been brought up and also tells us well it’s instead the managers fault or just tell us we shouldn’t feel that way and leave it at that. Not once have I ever felt heard by ownership or management at Cleveland stores. I always felt heard at the Kent store by both managers I worked with. Today (this week since editing) they fired the manager that has worked for that store over ten years total. All he has done is try to do what’s best for employees and the store. They refused to give him a consistent budget and many regulars got frustrated because the store couldn’t keep their product on the shelves that they wanted. They also refused $1 raises even though every employee has gotten that as a raise for years, and they even told management that them getting paid as much as they were “is the raise”. One employee was promised a raise for getting a key and they just straight up weren’t given one, and ownership acted like it was never promised. All the manager did was try to do right by employees and customers alike and he got fired for it. After ten years of service and not even a heads up, not even a plan to “improve” was given, they simply walked in with an employee from another store they apparently planned to make manager, and fired the store manager. No reason was given other than “they’re going in a different direction”, and the manager was even told he was doing a good just two-three months ago. The lies and the gaslighting is outrageous to the point you really think you’re crazy until you talk to other people about your experience. I have been in retail over 10 years and never in my life have I felt slighted like I did working there with the new owners. I’ve never wanted to write a review like this. It also blows my mind they took my last review down even though people liked it and I am being...
Read moreOk, since i cannot determine when I first starting coming to this place... I'm going to put it like this. My wife and I were born and raised in Kent, class of 2003. Everyone I know has frequented Puff N Stuff since it opened i think? Back when other local legends like Earth Tones, Spin More, Teleropa, Digs Skate Shop, Spellbinders were still around. I have been coming here as long as they were next to Laundry 101 and The CD Game Exchange. With that said, some of those stores don't exist anymore, but with this store came immense greatness through perseverance and amazing customer service. Not only are they usually the nicest people you would ever meet anywhere on a consistent, no matter whom is working the desk. Which is a feat worth mentioning in itself... They just have so many neat things. No matter how many times i come here for just that ONE item.. I find myself either buying something else or window shopping just because of all the cool stuff they sell. I know the city has changed over the years. But after all that though, we all still come here. At least the ones that still...
Read moreJust got cussed out by an unprofessional toothless dorky weirdo in suspenders telling me very rudely he was "the main guy in charge" and to never come back because the concentrate pen I bought didn't work. He then attempted to give me every excuse that it was my fault for a defective out of box product and tried to trade it for a color I didn't want and then was being rude about it. Trust me I don't need to be told not to come back after being treated like that. Ive spent thousands of dollars supporting that place over the last 20 years. He also said the owner and himself don't care if they get bad reviews about their horrible customer service and how bad it is and said that he doesn't care that I know people that used to work there. I've literally helped build that store up by giving referrals to my friends that live in the area when they were first starting out in the area... Midnight Oasis is way better anyway I usually go there now but I was by the Puff and decided to stop in,...
