2020 Edit: So there has been yet another remodel of this store, though this one just seemed to shuffled departments around with no real benefit to the customer. But the real problem I had is complete lack of service. I visisted on a weekday when there was more employee's walking around stocking shelves than customers and I still couldn't get any service in the Electronics department.
Apparently the staff was on lunch break, and who ever was supposed to be covering them was no where to be found. None of the nearby or passing workers seemed to be willing to help and when I tried the "call for assistance phone" nearby I was just endlessly put on hold. Never able to talk to any one. Eventually the guy came back but I had to wait even longer as the person "Covering" for him had the keys still. Said person spent over 2 minutes to come back, meaning they were quite far from Electronics.
The guy even tried to explain away the phones as pointless and I should of just flagged down a cast member. He went silent after I mentioned I did, and they just kept walking or said they were on break as well. No real apology, just a list of things I could of done to try and get some one to actually help me, even if they all failed.
Imo this is why department stores are failing, their only saving grace is convenience of walking into a store and picking up what you need in a timely manner. Waiting around 30 minutes for a guys lunch break is not quick or easy.
Old Review: I have to admit my review is colored a bit by personal experience with this place. My mom worked here for a few months before quitting due to the horrible treatment she suffered (tons of last minute shift changes, open one day, graveyard the next etc). That said the store is "okay" on the whole.
They have a very good return policy if you have the receipt or store credit generally if you don't. I like to buy any items prone to be a lemon ike cheap MP3 players from here just because of that return policy.
Their food however is a bit over priced and that "cart wheel" app now means you need to use your own data (because Target does not have free wifi) just to activate a coupon for 10 cents off tomato paste or something silly like that. If you don't have a smart phone, or won't use your data you can't get that discount.
Damaged or expired food products are also fairly common. They spent probably millions of dollars to remodel a third of their store into a grocery store ( with a focus on frozen and junk food) but obviously the turn over not good enough to even prevent canned goods from expiring. Had a couple jars of Olives with broken seals, I only noticed as the jars were leaking all over the check out table. The cashier still tried to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to the location in Kent WA (26301 104th Ave SE, Kent, WA 98030) today at 2pm to pick up shower hooks. I went in, found them and then cashed out at self check out as they had no employee checkout options. I went out to my car and then checked my phone. When I looked up, there was a man taking a picture of my front license plate and then went to take a picture of my back plate. At this time, I rolled down my window and asked what they were doing and if I could help them. The man then came to the side of my vehicle and accused me of walking out without paying and I was able to see a vest saying loss prevention. At this time, I replied no I paid at self checkout, showing him the receipt and hooks on my passenger seat. He responded with oh I guess you're good then. I went back into the store because I had concerns this was not an actual employee as at no point did they ask for proof of purchase prior to me rolling down my window and asking what was going on. Once in the store, the employee at pickup was very apologetic but wanted to confirm it was actually their team member. At this time, a member of their drive up team came over and admitted to sending loss prevention outside after me because an undisclosed customer said they saw me walk out without paying. The loss prevention agent then came over and said oh hey what are you doing in here, I told you, you were good. The check out employee then asked them if they followed me outside and took pictures of my plates, they said yes. The employee told them they should have stopped me in the store if they had any concerns and they absolutely should not be taking picture of license plates. The employee mentioned he didnt know but in what world would it be normal to not even ask the person to verify if they actually paid vs taking pictures of their plates. I have massive concerns as a solo female seeing a strange man walking around my vehicle taking pictures and if I hadn't said anything, who knows what report would have been fraudulently filled out against me over $3 curtain hooks that I paid for! It was absolutely concerning and downplayed as oh, well I told you it was OK but you didn't even tell me what was going on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was just racially profiled at this store by an associate. I go here all the time and Iām sad about my recent experience. My purpose today was to shop for a birthday present for my almost two year old. At check out I had explained that the little tikes water table was 15% off. The checker who I usually thought was a nice guy he has a British accent and I canāt remember his name but anyway he went on to tell me that it must be over because it wasnāt ringing up in the system. I even showed him the Target circle app and it said it was auto applied. He then radioed someone to double check and before he answered he said Iāll give it to you this time. Right after he said that they called in to his radio to say yes it is 15% off. When he rang up my total he then proceeds to ask me if I got my $100 from the bank and then says uh oh this is fake and calls over loss prevention. He tried to tell me that there arenāt any ridges on the $100 bill. The people behind me said use the marker thatās the only way to tell. He then retracts his statement and says oh now I can feel the ridges. Iāve never been so upset and embarrassed in my life. This was a horrible shopping experience and I hope nobody else experiences this. I was humiliated in front of my son and in front of the entire store. Being racist is a disease and it doesnāt go hand in hand with what I thought Target was doing for diversity inclusion. All they said was they would talk to the associate. To my fellow black brothers and sisters shop where you are celebrated not tolerated. Our money is just as good as anyone elseās. This should have never happened and I will be as loud as possible to ensure that this doesnāt happen to anyone else. Shame on...
