We really love this little café. It does sell halal. Do not let that scare you if you aren't Muslim. It only means the animals were slaughtered with kindness, quickly so they didn't feel needless pain and Allah ( same name Christians use for God in middle east) was asked to bless the food --so nothing bad about it. Anyways, we love this little place. Typically, we would make it a quick lunch spot if in the area--it's 20+ miles from home but since it was our anniversary we drove there just for dinner. Haha. Anyways, prices are typical of ALL restaurants in the Seattle region. Not higher or lower. If you are buying lamb, it's high. The cost of the raw meat is high to purchase to begin with. The food every single time we have eaten here has been well prepared, fully cooked and well seasoned. I didn't take a picture of the soup this time, but my husband really likes their soup and it's something I can't replicate. I've tried. Haha. THIS time it was a bit different. Tonight was a chicken noodle soup. It was a nice starter however my husband preferred the previous recipe of the lentil with chicken they were serving. I was going to try once more to taste test the recipe in order to replicate but no luck since it wasn't served. Hehehe. Their secret is still safe :) Normally, as I said we order lunch so we grab from the sandwich menu since we have to get it to go. We have gotten the falafel, beef and chicken Sharamahs in the past. All lovely. Sometimes, I've found them to be a bit too much and needed to split mine into 2 meals! For our anniversary dinner out, we choose platters, though. My husband selected a mixed beef platter and I ordered the Chicken tikka platter. Both platters had a yellow rice which I assume was a saffron rice. It was very lightly seasoned, perfectly prepared. I thought I might have tasted a slight hint of lemon but perhaps that was from the lemon on my plate? Not sure. We both had a small side salad on the plate with a strip of pickle. We each also had a spoonful of hummus with small toast chips decorating the edges and a few chickpeas in the center. Cute but not wholly necessary imo. I actually felt like the hummus they made before was a little better but this wasn't bad. And I love hummus! My husband and I trade parts of our meat entrees for each other to try. Side not I don't like beef and he doesn't like chicken! His beef was actually good. Especially the kofta. I could easily pass on the beef cubes but he loved them! It was way too much beef for me. Like in your face steak that I just don't like but he does. And he liked my chicken! He actually took 3 more chunks! Haha. It was well marinated and fully cooked--a slight zest to it. Very nice.
So it was a very nice dinner. We enjoyed ourselves. The bill was about $62 which is average for dinner out for 2 in the Seattle region.
We highly recommend this café whether you are Muslim or not. You will get good service...
Read moreVery nice clean spacious place Clean restroom. The lounge Walls are decorated with nice photos of of the owner original heritage ( Iraq).
They have nice dining tables. But the Tables are decorated with purely completely different culture . It is decorated with Chinese drawings, and writing. It is supposed to be something similar to the culture, and the heritage of the establishment. They have nice big explanatory, photo detailed ,easy to understand menu.
Their prices are diffinetly on the higher side, compared to other similar restaurants in the same area. But the food quality, taste, aroma, flavor, and freshness are excellent, combined with the good polite customer service, and clean place make it worth it.
Their dishes come out hot,and fresh, and in good timing
Some of their dishes are so awesome, and best of any where you can find for instance the lamb shank dish.
But some other dishes unfortunately are so disappointing, and way over priced but you will not know exactly until you order ,and try that dish for instance the lamb chops dish( over cooked, dry almost becoming a lamb jerky, burned, little good flavor, burnt taste overwhelmed the original intended flavor, size is too little, actually real tiny. They are like tooth picks, and way over priced ).
Some of their dishes come with the broth of the meat of the same dish, it is so good, and so delicious you will develop a craving for it.
Their bread is special, and delicious
Their rice flavor, texture, and seasoning is standard , and and same rice is served with so many different dishes , but it is not the best . There are other Mediterranean restaurants cook much better flavorful rice that is like a distanation, or a goal to get that rice from that other restaurant .
Their Tabouli, Hummus, and baba ganoush need improvement.
They have excellent polite customer service.
But will still keep dining here ,and dont mind paying their high prices because overall most of their dishes are still awesome ,and their customer service is also awesome.
Lots of free easy parking. Clean parking lot Please watch out for the hole in the middle of the parking lot. It is getting deeper,...
Read moreA year ago, my family and I decided to give this restaurant a try since we were fasting and it seemed nice for iftar. We had called in and asked for a reservation and they had told us they have a first come first serve policy. We arrived there about 20 minutes before iftar with little to no people inside the restaurant and they served us soup 15 minutes after we had arrived. We ordered 2 simple sandwiches and 4 plates. 45 minutes later and only 1 sandwich with 2 plate had been served. We had kindly reminded them twice that half our orders have not been delivered and they brushed it off and ignored us. After 1 hour our order still weren’t complete, leaving half of us only eating a small bowl of soup for iftar. They tried to charge us for the orders that weren’t served. We paid for the orders we ate and left. Today, we gave them another chance since we assumed they at least changed in the slightest. We got there early as well this time with only one table other than us. People quickly crowded the restaurant for iftar which is typical. All other tables got served dates and soup as an appetizer and a fast breaker. After 20 minutes of waiting, they said they ran out of dates and were cooking the soup. We left and found a better decent restaurant. I don’t recommend going to this place at all, especially for the...
