It took me a long time to decide that I wanted to get into a controlled living atmosphere. That’s what this is and then it took me a long time for the right apartment to come up available. I was able to find the perfect apartment for me and then I got the gate for my patio. I’ve met some interesting people. They have talk to me about me becoming an ambassador and I’m thinking about that. I think I might enjoy that because I like people but I’ve never been in a place that was so controlled without being controlled. It makes me feel very safe and yet they don’t watch my every moment. They let me bring my cat and dog. I wouldn’t have come without them. Elizabeth was good to help me get this apartment really took the time to look for what was important to me. It’s just fun to live here and the food is fantastic. We have these amazing special fancy dinners Chris and the team does a wonderful job. I love the atmosphere of living on the street .I get to show off my flowers on my patio! Colby observers out in the hall in the dining room. He’s just there ready to get approach by anyone walking by and he knows what’s going on. His office door is always open, that door is never closed. He doesn’t talk very much but he’s a good listener. Glad to have the maintenance crew on hand for whatever we may need. The employees are always glad to see you at 7 o’clock in the morning. Especially Abby’s smile after I come in from walking my dog. I’m not glad to see anybody at 7 o’clock but they sure are. I’m shooting for 90 and being in a place like this with security, the employees kindness and help will allow me to get...
Read moreI’m an area social worker and I had a client who needed to make a life style change; she needed more support, more opportunities for socializing and a more positive atmosphere. She has many friends who visited and assisted with errands; she still just needed a little more. She was hesitant to look at Juniper Village because she thought would be too expensive (it isn’t!), she imagined everyone who lives there is old and boring (not true!) and she was worried about potential high-pressure sales. Her doctor and her family strongly encouraged her to make a change, so she agreed to let me contact Juniper Village on her behalf. I spoke to a representative about the situation and she went above and beyond to assist. The rep made a house call (amazing!) and brought over a video tour of the community, explained everything about the community with upfront pricing and patiently answered all questions. Since my client didn’t want to drive but did want to visit, the rep made arrangements to pick her up later that week for lunch there and to see an apartment. There was no pressure to move, just patience, understanding and kindness. When my client did decided to move in to Juniper Village, I asked her what helped her make her decision. She said it was because everyone was so upbeat and positive, the food was fantastic (she admits she can be hard to please in this area) and the neighbors she met were wonderful. She is thriving in her new apartment at Juniper Village at...
Read moreWe are Lyle & Sandi: Lyle retired at age 50, 30 years of service with the U.S. Forest Service in Emergency Services (Fire, Law Enforcement and Safety). Being retired so young we traveled extensively, first by Live aboard sail boat, then Diesel motor home and now by Cruise Ship. We took thousands of photos.
In our mid 70's we realized our physical health was declining and we started looking for an alternate life style. We found Juniper, got a great tour, researched Independent Living vs our house cost and decided to make the move even though we thought it was 2 years premature.
In hind sight it was the right time as we were still fit enough to move and set up our 1 bedroom unit like a home. The Staff is GREAT let us make it like we wanted and were right there to repair any issues found. Adapting to the life style was easy as it's like being on a cruise ship without the motion. The full service dining rooms, grand entry, elevators, activities, movie theater, presentations, even the resident hallways look like a cruise ship with the railings and room doors down the hall.
Speaking of programs, we are sharing our "Shook Loose Travel" photos, first Sunday each month in the Chapel for fellow Residents.
