I guess I'm one of the few that has visited this sushi restaurant that not only had really bad fish, but horrible service to boot.
The first time we ate there the food was ok, nothing spectacular but at least the fish tasted fresh. The 2nd time I went for lunch, not only was the food horrible, the server was site unseen. I ordered seared ahi tuna, and my friend ordered the seared ahi tuna appetizer. The first 3 pieces on my dish were horribly fishy tasting. My friend tasted it too and agreed that the fish was bad. Her appetizer had moments of freshness and other pieces were bad.
The service was also horrible. Our server took forever to come our table, in fact, she hid in back most of the time. When she did show her face, we had to flag her down to get her attention. I returned the dish and ordered Shrimp Tempura which took another 30mins + to receive. Normally, when a customer has a bad dish, the server makes sure that the replacement order is fired immediately and sent out to the customer in an expedited fashion. No, not for me, I had to wait, and wait, and wait. In the meantime, i was lectured on how seared Ahi Tuna was to be cooked. I explained to her that the cook on the fish was fine, Ahi Tuna is supposed to be lightly seared, but it SHOULD NEVER TASTE FISHY and leave a bad fish taste in your mouth 15 minutes after you swallow!
Bottom line, we were in the place about 2 hours over all with all the time it took to get our server to show back up. If it weren't for my dear friend eating as slowly as she could we would have walked out a at least 30 mins earlier. In addition, the green tea tasted like mildewy water. ...
Read moreThe service was excellent. The ambiance is very nice. Our server was a young lady who checked in with us numerous times to see if everything was ok. Service was quick; food came out very quickly. We ordered a chicken teriyaki and tempura bento box, spider sushi roll, and ramen with miso broth. The bento box was plentiful. The negative: the chicken was dry. It had not been marinated. It was a grilled, sliced chicken breast with teriyaki sauce drizzled over the pieces. (I'm Japanese and make teriyaki.) The tempura was hot, plentiful. Quite delicious. Soup was served with the Bento Box. Mushroom soup was selected and it was delicious. Dash (broth) was tasty seafood base. The miso soup was a generous serving with plenty of ramen, pork, a few (very few) veggies, and a perfectly cooked soft-cooked egg. I should have requested some chili powder to add some zip and flavor to the soup. The spider roll was good. No dish was provided to mix the wasabi. I thought it was odd that a bowl of steamed rice was not served with the Bento Box. Perhaps because a California roll was present in the box. I would have chosen steamed rice over a California roll but that is just me. We will try this...
Read moreI actually chose this place to take a couple of friends for dinner based on the ratings I saw on hereto begin with, but sadly, we didn't have the same experience. We got seated and for drinks right away, but the waitress didn't come back forever. We had planned to order an appetizer and just enjoy a visit, but by the time she came back, we were super hungry and running low on time, so we all just ordered dinner. Two of our three dinners came out fairly early. That wasn't a good thing - my fried rice was lukewarm and completely dried out, so it made me thinking it had not been freshly prepared and had probably been sitting out for some time before being served to me. The third person in our group ordered a simple bento box, but it showed up 20 minutes after the rest of us got our food. Of course, we shared ours with her while we waited, so she wasn't really hungry anymore once it arrived. It took forever again to just get the waitress to acknowledge we were finished, bring us boxes, and handle our check. Maybe it was just an off night, but I won't be going back...
