James Free Jewelers — Local services in Kettering

It is with sadness that I write this review for James Free, since as a relatively new Dayton resident, I thought this was going to be my "place to go" for high-horology timepieces. I am a watch enthusiast and was looking forward to get a Rolex or a Patek from this jeweler, but unfortunately it has been disappointment after disappointment for the last year and a half.

Specifically, the behavior from their watch concierge (I don't want to mention names), has been snooty and contemptuous, to put it mildly. I thought I could start building the relationship with James Free by buying a Tudor watch, but that made little to no difference. My messages to follow up on the potential availability of products have been ignored repeatedly. In the meantime, I was able to get two Rolexes from two Authorized Dealers, one in the Caribbean, and the other in the Cincinnati area, with infinitely superior customer service.

It is disheartening to be treated better abroad than by your local AD. Unfortunately, it seems that this Rolex and Patek AD has fallen in the trap of mistreating customers, just because the retail price for high-end timepieces in 2022 is favorable, and demand for these items has sky-rocketed.

I wish James Free could work more in their horology customer service, and be a little more transparent with their product availability timelines. I hope this criticism is seen as constructive and things eventually get better for us watch nerds in Dayton, but in them meantime, I will be taking my business to Watches of Switzerland in North Cincinnati or the Diamond Cellar...

James Free Jewelers provides a warm, inviting, shopping experience. I've been shopping at James Free for several years now and the staff always goes out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and well assisted, without the pressure of an expected purchase every time you visit. I've been working with Rachel for a few years now. She is an amazing associate at James Free! Rachel has taken the time to get to know me and my jewelry preferences. She even goes out of her way to keep me up to date on the latest James Free sales events. You will not be disappointed if you choose James Free Jewelers for your elegant accessories. The service they provide, above and beyond the products they have available, is outstanding. Even if your need is as simple as a battery change in your quartz watch, James Free is the place to go. I've been to several other jewelers outside of the Dayton Mall area that advertise their excellent customer service, and attentiveness to customers. The other jewelers always disappoint. They either make you feel uncomfortable while you shop, or they tsk at your need for a battery change. The difference between James Free Jewelers and the others is clearly night and day. James Free Jewelers will never scoff at your timepiece, like others may. I find this amusing because you would think that James Free was the more snobbish of jewelers. From the moment I walked in to the steps to the return to my car, my experience with James Free Jewelers was absolutely wonderful. My experience began with Sherri and ended with Jackie. I have looked everywhere for a specific type of engagement ring setting that is not commonly found so much any more. The selection there would leave anyone in awe because there is so many beautiful styles. The quality was the most important to me along with customer service. Sherri didn't push me into a sale. She actually texted me pictures and information when I needed it. It was great to receive such kind, informative, and professional service with no push to purchase along with a follow up. The day I chose to purchase, I contacted her and she was off. She informed me that Jackie was ready with everything and would take care good care of me. She couldn't have put me in better hands. Jackie was EXCEPTIONAL. Again from start to finish, I was treated with excellent service. Jackie was so warm that I felt I knew her for years. I was also impressed with the knowledge, and still no pushy sales techniques as I was still looking for a diamond. I have been to jewelers in the Miami and Denver areas.
