Salvation Army Thrift Store — Local services in Key West

There was a woman there today with a huge hole in the middle of her face, and only one eye.. she asked for shelter for the night, and looked overheated, with sunburnt legs full of insect bites... she was offered free clothing but nothing else..... she was told to go out and take the bus to KOTS on Stock Island...bus service is terrible here, she would have had to wait about an hour in the hot sun... she was thirsty but was offered no water... it seems that the Salvation army could do a lot more to help people in terrible circumstances....who seek help... after all, they say that the reason they exist is to help those in need, but they callously turn these people away every day.... maybe have a social worker stationed there, a water station, a cellphone charging station ( with time limits)... but there was no help at all for this poor soul, no one wanted to take the time to talk to her or to make a phone call for her....yet, they will come right away to your house to pick up stuff that they...

Lived here for 5 years and this store is consistently poorly managed. Messy, women’s clothing in the men’s section. Why would have someone on the register who doesn’t speak English? The girl on the register today spoke zero, ZERO ENGLISH and just knodded and smiled at everything I said, which was that she was overcharging me for my clothing. Then the card machine didn’t work and she rudely hands my card back like it declined, and takes my purchases away. Uhhh no, I would actually bet my last dollar it was operator induced error as she couldn’t even read the machine??? HOW SILLY and likely questionable as to whether people are being rang up correctly. Between the staff and the lunatic manager yelling at people constantly- this place is an embarrassment honestly to really proud organization I donate to, and STILL try to frequent this store burn sometimes it’s not worth the trip just due to the general state of chaos that...

it seems a little weird for me to leave a review on a thrift store as i obviously understand its mission and the issue was really not with the quality of anything at all, but whoever was working the register. Wow lol I don't typically encounter people so miserable that they decide to be rude and incompetent. Older lady at the register accuses me of trying to up the price on a $3 candle holder. Ma'am, we are at a thrift store, a candle holder that small shouldn't be more than $3 anyway, but i say yeah that's what the sticker says. and she says "seems awfully heavy for $3" km like okay so what would it be. this woman literally proceeds to put it off to the side and say "idk i can't price it" . So get off the register if you don't know what is even going on and refusing to even TRY to find a price. girl it's three dollars. i hope that lady finds happiness one day, her misery is contagious i had to leave as soon as...
