Rest Beach — Attraction in Key West

Free Florida fun though not exactly the best place to rest unless you count hanging out on the seawall! Not to be unfair, there is one covered picnic area sans table.

Anyway, it's a small park. The beach itself is very narrow and not unlike other Keys beaches it's rocky with coral and full of seagrass. You'd have to be pretty ambitious to lay out here.

...but there's a few good parking spots, plenty of shade, and lots of chickens if you're looking...

Small strip of sand just E of the much larger Higgs Beach. A nice place for a stroll or to look out at the Atlantic Ocean, but not a good swimming beach. Mostly used by residents of the condos that line Atlantic Ave.

UPDATE: Rest Beach is a disaster right now. The city is in the process of beach restoration (and hopefully replacing a few missing picnic tables), but there is no reason to visit until the work...
