I’ve driven by The Corner Sandwich Shop in Key West many times over my last vacation and every time, I noticed locals lined up or picking up sandwiches. That’s always a good sign, so on this trip, I made it a point to stop by—and I’m glad I did!

This is a true walk-up window spot, with a handful of outdoor counter seats and a menu posted on boards flanking the order window. Simple, unassuming, and exactly the kind of local gem you hope to find on vacation.

I ordered the steak sandwich and it was perfect. A generous portion, packed with flavor and great texture. The griddled beef was tender and savory, paired with grilled onions, melted cheese, fresh tomato, and the unexpected crunch of potato sticks—an amazing touch that brought everything together.

My wife and kids tried the Cuban sandwich and absolutely devoured it. What stood out was the way the pork was reheated—seared on the grill for a bit of crispy texture before being tucked into the sandwich. That little detail made a big difference in both flavor and mouthfeel.

This place is easily overlooked, basically a counter and a few chairs between a few convenience stores, a pawn shop, a liquor store and the beach.

But Holy Jumpin', this might be the best Cuban restaurant on the island. They have all the essentials, the price is right and the service is fast and friendly. I am a huge fan of the chorizo and egg breakfast sandwich, but the traditional Cuban sandwiches and croquettes are also on point.

Our experience at Corner Sandwich Shop is nothing better! Today we had a Cuban sandwich and it was very delicious. Doris, the girl in the counter, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He made sure my daughter got exactly what she was looking for!
