I had heard talk about this store and how the employees treat people but I'm not one to believe rumors. I visited this location and had every intention on buying a pair of western boots. Didnt care if they cost me $180 or $300, I was getting them. Myself and my wife walked in and was greeted by a older gentleman and we shared greetings and moved along. We looked at a couple things in the display case and was asked by a employee "How are you? Can I help you with anything?" I responded "No thank you, were fine" . At the time we were asked this, 4 employees were standing at the front. We proceed a little further back towards the wallet section where I notice a guy was shifting through some wallets, seem like he had been there for awhile. At this time another employee approached him and ask "How's it going sir?, may I assist you?" He responds "no". This same employee turns to me and says "Hey sir, may I assist you?" I respond "No, were fine" now this is also the same employee who was standing at the front of the store and heard me the first time, i gave him the benefit of a doubt and just answered him. Now we move back toward the boot section and as were rounding a corner ANOTHER employee " hey sir, may I assist you?" Al within 2min of setting foot in the store. Now I know how it might seem like I was getting good customer service but that didnt feel it. All of a sudden all employees is in the back of the store. I felt more like I was being bothered/Followed. The last employee stated that he was processing paperwork(looking at the cameras) in the back and just wanted to share greeting. Had a hard time believing that he was just looking at paperwork and decided at that very moment with us in the back of the store to come out. So it either they felt like we were stealing( maybe that's why they were following)! Or they felt like we didnt belong either way. We felt very uncomfortable so we just left without buying anything. From what people say they are notorious for following people, making them uncomfortable, and racial profiling. I will never shop there, or recommend this...
Read moreThe GZone's Review of Cavender's Boot City on 3110 E Central Texas Expy, Killeen, TX 76543:
On a recent trip to Austin, I decided to drive down to Killeen (my 2nd visit) to see a close friend. While there, we stopped by Cavender's Boot City, as I was on the hunt for another pair of exotic boots to add to my collection. I already own a pair of Crocodile and Ostrich boots by Tecovas, but this time, I had my eye on something uniqueâPirarucu, an exotic fish skin from the Amazon.
Let me say, for this GZone Review that my experience at Cavender's could have easily been a one-star one, as Cavender's isn't the most welcoming or helpful when you walk in and as a customer you are on your own at this location.
However, it was elevated to a memorable visit thanks to Tanner, a Texas Tech graduate and proud Red Raiders representative. Tannerâs excellent customer service and genuine enthusiasm turned what might have been a disappointing trip into a positive experience. His knowledge of the boots and friendly demeanor made me really want to find a pair that suited my taste.
Unfortunately, I didnât end up purchasing boots because the majority of the styles were knob-toe (must be a Texas thing) and others that were available didnât quite match what I was looking for. Still, thanks to Tanner, I left with a great impression of this location. Iâll definitely keep Cavender's in mind for future boot-shopping adventures.
**Tanner, keep up the excellent customer service!
Respectfully, G

Read moreIt's funny, I didn't actually check the reviews before going here last week. Now I know why they are so highly rated. I have lost weight and shrunk out of all my old jeans, so not only did I need some new jeans, I wasn't even sure exactly what size. I'm also tall enough that it's uncommon to find my size off the rack, so I figured my best chance was a western store like this with (hopefully) a big selection. We were greeted immediately at the door by a very helpful older gentleman, who assured us that, yes, they do carry 36 length in most of their selections, and he was happy to help us personally. I really was just expecting to be pointed in the general direction of the jeans department, and honestly, I probably would have been happy with that. But no, he (this was Brad) took the time to work with us 1-on-1 to find the exact right size and style. Even better, the jeans I wanted were on sale, which was nice but really wasn't the reason we came in. In this day and age where customer service seems to be largely a lost art, it's nice to know that it's not completely gone. Granted, I came in the early afternoon on a weekday when the store wasn't busy, I'm sure not everyone gets this level of service when there are more customers. But at least this store is well managed and they train their employees. Most stores these days also ask you politely to go fill out a survey, and I almost never do. This time I did,...
