Salon Unmixed — Local services in Kirkland

I booked an all over colour the day prior to my appointment. Arrived 15 minutes before my appointment and was greated by a gal who was working on a client. She told me my stylist wasn't in yet so I decided to browse some product. I've been using Aveda products and servic for over 10 years and just have a set expectation of salons. The shelves were covered in dust and the samples of some of the products were obviously expired, pooled with oil not a good representation of the actual product. Product was crusted around the containers as well. The floors under the shelves were also dusty.

When my stylist arrived about 3 minutes before my appointment time, she advised me she didn't even take the time to look at my name or what service I booked. Just really unprofessional. My stylist had very limited knowledge of what to do with my colour. I could hear her referring to another associate needing help with the whole process. I advised previous stylists use a lot of the pure reds to achieve the result I usually get. The signature hand massage offered was subpar and she just left a ton of product on my skin after the fact. One of the employees has a chihuahua that moves freely around the salon and barks very abruptly making it a not so relaxing experience.

Unfortunately my color turned out way too dark. They offered to fix it by toning it down but without a lot of time and more treatment to my hair it's not realistic to achieve what I came in for. Even though they did offer to fix it at no cost, which is humbling my overall experience will not have...

Recently I had a very-new-for-me hair coloring with Nadya (very dark blue-violet, merging with my natural black) and will highly recommend her. She has a great taste and is able to foresee a stylish solution for your type of hair, give a valuable advice and, no question, execute the selected version in very much accuracy. She devoted as much time as necessary to reach the final tone, until her and my complete satisfaction.

To my knowledge, Nadya regularly participates in internationally known styling workshops and meetings, and, in combination with long years of experience, she obviously has refined her skills in fashion hair-styling and coloring. She is the owner of the Salon and I observe that similar standards are in place for the other members of the team.

One indication as how much I appreciate her skills, is that once in couple months I drive to Salon Unmixed from North Seattle, where I live and work. And I have come to such a decision, after my experiences in several local high-end hair salons in Downtown and North Seattle.

This was my 1st time at the salon. Cory did an excellent job, although I would be comfortable with any of the stylists (yes, I watched them). I went in for the same cut/color/highlight that my (now retired) stylist did. Cory let me know that my hair was fragile, and a different approach would help. She spent hours on my hair, being very meticulous. She did a different type of color and cut, and I just LOVE it! Thank you all - the stylists seem to work together well.
