I stopped by the day before for cappuccino and breakfast sandwich and had a positive impression of the place. The baristas were friendly and nice, the place felt like a very special kind of opposite-of-fancy-but-cute neighborhood spot. Both cappuccino and sandwich were ok, I stayed longer and tried their espresso, which was ok, too. So, I returned today, and ordered a 12-once drip coffee, but surprisingly it just tasted bad. I understand drip varies from place to place, and there is a lot that contributes to the taste and flavor, and this coffee is not supposed to be heavenly good, because, again, it’s not a fancy expensive place where you get a special brew for $5. However, with all that in mind, and with all my appreciation for this place and my desire to be a loyal customer, this drip was simply impossible to drink. I made a sip, returned to the bar stand and kindly (and quietly) asked to replace it with any other black coffee drink. The woman at the counter told she could only Sell me another drink because no one had complained about their drip before, so it must be me making up sone nonsense. Fine, I paid for an espresso, which was worse than yesterday, but still a lot better than that drip. This whole experience is not a big deal, and I would just forget about it and save this place for lattes and espresso, but it was a little too unpleasant experience with customer service to return back or recommend this place to others. Hope this feedback is helpful for the owners...
Read moreDownpour is a decent cafe in Redmond and very close to my home which is why I frequent it. Their baked selection is good.
This place unfortunately suffers from two baristas I'd honestly skip next time I see them. You'll find the most under extracted bitter coffee from them, don't even bother going to this place.
If management is reading this, please train your baristas on making good espresso. Under extracted, runny, a joke of a cappuccino is what I recently got and had to throw it away. If the inconsistency remains, I might've to stop going to this one.
Update: Walked into the cafe one day and a barista completely ignored me, went into the backroom for some odd reason for several minutes and I had to leave empty handed. I don't believe the owner is setting the expectations right with the baristas hired. This is poor...
Read moreReally cool coffee shop!
The interior is fun, with clouds on the ceiling, and bright furniture. There are tables in the middle, some higher tables/seating towards the back and a bar top as well.
Ordered a macchiato which came served in the most adorable polish pottery. I collect polish pottery, so that alone would give me cause to come back. The espresso was velvet and smooth and not bitter as it shouldn’t be.
Parking is pretty plentiful and shared with only a few other businesses. There were probably 10+ other customers while I was there and it was still fairly quiet/comfortable. I got a lot of work done!
Overall, I would absolutely recommend down pour for a nice caffeine boost in a...
