In Sept we went to Lazy-boy to shop for a sofa. We found one we liked and the sales lady, worked up the order. She was very nice and easy to work with. At one point her manager spoke to us and offered us a sale price (they were having a Labor Day sale). We had not come prepared to make a purchase that day but as we were happy with what we picked out, we told them we would call back to make a down payment the next day. The manager replied that the sale price was only good for that day (even though the sale cont thru the end of the week) and that if we didn't purchase that moment, he wouldn't honor the sale price. We were taken aback and thought we were going to have to go elsewhere and start over. The sales lady honored the price the manager had originally quoted because he did not give us that stipulation until we were ready to leave. We were not given any paperwork on our order but we did call back the next day and made the down pmnt. We were given the est delivery time of "near Christmas." I called and spoke to the sales lady several times over the next few mths checking on the status of our order. On one of those calls I made another pmnt and was informed that production was behind and it would be Jan/Feb before completed. On every call reminded her I had no paperwork, but none was provided. Eventually, I called and was told it would arrive soon and I could schedule delivery for late Feb, but because of our work schedules we could not be there to receive it when they wanted to bring it. I requested a Sat and the earliest was March 6. The delivery guys showed up on time and were very nice. But, we had ordered our sectional as 7 indvdl pcs but we were brought 6 pcs w/the 7th attached to the other piece so we could not put it in the configuration we needed. I called to explain the problem and was informed (for the first time) that custom pieces were non-refundable and we were stuck w/what we ordered. I replied but this isn't what we ordered. So far they are unwilling to replace the piece unless we pay an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I arrived at the La Z Boy Gallery on Kingston Pike in Knoxville,TN, I was greeted by a consultant Dwight within 2-3 minutes. He asked if he could help me with anything in particular. I had a heavy envelope of samples for the renovation of my condo. He asked if he could carry some of my stuff; which I gladly allowed him to do. We walked around the show room to look at different styles of the furniture items I was shopping for. He knew where to go to see the various pieces. After I decided on the styles I liked, we sat all my samples out on a table near the upholstery samples. We both looked through the upholstery; I found the piece Iād seen online the night before. Then we started looking for a coordinating fabric to go with the print Iād picked out. My choices were determined by how they matched the other fabric & my floor, wall paint color, granite countertop, & baseboard trim color. It took us quite a bit of time, but Dwight found a tweed type fabric that was the best match to all the samples & fabric. Before he started the cost calculation, I told him there was some stools in the front of the gallery I wanted to look at. They were exactly what I wanted & matched everything in the samples. While he did the calculations for cost, I took pics of everything laid out on the table & went to my car to get my check book. He explained all the calculations, the sales & military markdowns, taxes, and fabric treatment 5 yrs warranty. He made sure I understood the delivery could be 25 weeks away, but explained that as items arrived they would deliver them. I had told him I had no furniture to sit on in the great room; he was very understanding. He got me a big bag for all my paperwork & samples. He gave me his card & a magazine, as well as copies of the furniture styles I had bought. I paid 1/3 of the bill & left as he held the door open for me. It was a very productive, pleasant shopping experience. Dwight Steinhaus is an asset to the La Z Boy showroom. Iāll recommend the gallery & Dwight to my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThank you for the opportunity to share my experience at Lazy Boy Store # 12 in Knoxville, TN. where I shopped for a recliner last week, with the help of a walker and a wheel chair. Unfortunately, the Sales Consultant who assisted me, and the store itself was ill-equipped to accommodate guests with physical handicaps. After I made my selection, the Sales Consultant showed me to the area where all paperwork is completed. She brought me to a podium with a touch screen to enter all my Personal information, As I was seated in my wheel chair, I asked her to please lower the screen so that I could read it and complete it. She.said she couldn't do so because it was stationary. So, I asked for a paper application to fill out instead. They did not have any paper applications So, the only possible way to convey this info and make a purchase was to verbally relay it to another individual where anyone within earshot could hear it all. I told her this was a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and I was within an inch of walking out. (Actually, the only reason I didn't was because my daughter and son-in-law had just spent the entire day driving me around looking at recliners and I didn't want to take up any more of their time.) And to top it all off, she told me since my son-in-law was picking up the recliner he would have to bring furniture blankets or something else to protect it from the weather because it doesn't come in a carton or wrapped in plastic. Seriously?! For all you change for your furniture you can't even cover it beforehand delivery? I am very unhappy with this entire experience and will...
