I've went to AYCH multiple times for computer issues. Let me start off by saying that the staff at the store are very friendly and nice.
However, here are some issues I've ran into:
-Questionable Installations? (MAJOR) AYCH installed several programs into my laptop (without asking beforehand or telling me afterwards--I only found out because I called and asked about the programs I found there): Malwarebytes, Avast, CCleaner, and others. Was told to keep all of them to keep my laptop safe. (Note: You only need 1 cleaning program, otherwise they cost intereferences with one another.)
I got Bluescreened. I took it to a different repair shop, and was told whatever I had installed had caused my laptop to Blue.
What did I install? What Avast told me to do. Received a notif from Avast stating I had to update CCleaner and another program (programs instaleld by AYCH), clicked okay, laptop updated, got Blue. New repair shop told me that the mentioned programs seemed to have come from insecure sites, and that whenever it updated, it would install additional programs + viruses onto my laptop. (Did not tell him that someone else installed those programs; he thought I had done it.)
In regards to this issue, I do not think it was necessarily done on purpose or with malintent or ill-will. It could have been a mistake! I am, however, bringing this issue forward as it's important to address + look into to prevent from happening again.
Cost Changes: Constant fluctuating of prices. Was told I'd need to only pay a certain amount ($25, $35, $45) but when it came to pay, price changed (increased by a lot). When asked why, was told I was never offered that deal or they had done additional services to my laptop (that I never asked for).
I think if additional services are needed, and cost goes up, that is fine, but please contact us beforehand to let us know.
-Installation of Programs + Deletion: Changes would be made to laptop without being contacted first.
If some programs need to be removed or installed, please contact us. It would have been nice to have made backups beforehand if possible to prevent loss.
Communication: Shop would rarely call for updates.
All in all, I think these issues are important to address, but are...
Read moreI have taken 2 of my desktop computers here for a diagnosis as to why they crashed on me. Both times the problems were solved quickly and efficiently, I’ll give them that. This last time, however, I was quite disappointed with their lack of information. Picking up my computer I had to ask what the issue was, the guy would have let me just go without telling me their resolution. Apparently the HD crashed. They fixed it. I asked if there was any issue with a virus? He said no. He did, however, tell me that they installed malware bytes and Avast antivirus software and another program that I will be deleting. I told him my last issue was due to a virus so I now have McAfee installed on THIS computer. He stated they had better luck with Avast and that keeping the free version is ok. Just as I was about to leave, I remembered hearing from my IT folks at work that having two antivirus softwares on one computer can cause issues. I confirm this with him and he says “oh, yeah, you shouldn’t have two of them, they will conflict”. So I tell him “ok, well, I’ll be sure to remove one when I get it set up”. What upset me is the fact that had I not said anything I would have experienced issues that would most likely require I return my computer to their shop for a diagnosis. What about people who don’t know about having two antivirus programs? While I do still recommend their services, I also strongly suggest they make a few changes to their business practice. Like others have stated, contact the customer PRIOR to installing ANYTHING on their devices and get consent. Second, offer up information that the customer may not be aware of. When it comes to installing antivirus programs, maybe ask if they already have one and advise on what would happen with two. We take our devices to a shop because we clearly can’t fix it all. It would be very helpful if they would offer up info rather than the customer having to either ask questions or risk more issues if info is...
Read moreI have had a very disappointing experience with Aych. I was given their name from a co-worker that said they were on their BNI list. Not knowing anyone else in town and not wanting to go to an extremely expensive alternative........I went to AYCH in Lakewood close to work. After waiting to hear something for three days, I called. No one returned my call. I waited for a week and called again. I had a trip planned for out of town and needed this work done by then. After another week, I simply said I was coming to pick the computer up, done or not. I finally got a call from Hugh saying pretty much nothing. My take on it was they couldn't find what the problem was so, they just did an overall factory reset. PROBLEM is.....................They didn't back up correctly and therefore: 1.They erased all my old photographs Erased all my old PDF files Put an invalid Windows 7 activation key on and something is terribly wrong with the cursor jumping all around while I am typing and the screen keeps moving up and down.
I am thinking I could have had my teenager do better than this. NOW how do I get back all those precious pictures huh?????
VERY amateurs!!!
I finally got my laptop back only to find that you did not back up properly so as to put my files back on after you deleted whatever you did.
1.All my old pictures are deleted and many PDF files. Something is very crazy with the cursor and screen now jumping all around A message comes up saying that an invalid Windows 7 activation key was not given.....
WOW!! And it too over a week just to do all that.
I won't be giving a...
