I brought my son in for one of our parent-kid dates, one we rarely get lately. This lady seats us, asks us to look at the menu and let her know when we are ready. Mind you, it is a Sunday so I was ecstatic that this type of restaurant is: 1. Open, and 2. Not Crowded. Well, my son orders his, no problem. I started off, "I'll have a California Roll." She responds, "We aren't doing California Rolls today." Nothing more, nothing less. I should have left on principle, you hadn't let me know about why I wasn't able to order any of the things I was craving and you left me with no explanation. She brings out my son's soup, grabs his hand and said, "who painted your nails?! Your mom?!" First off, none of your business, and second, keep your hands off of my child. So, now I'm more than upset, seeing as this is the second insinuating comment about his style and she keeps glaring at his long hair. Their chef comes out and he asks me how I'm doing and I answer honestly, "I'm pretty upset and I dislike my visit so far, but it's just the beginning." He asks if there's anything he can get me. "Well, my son wanted to watch the cool show, I wanted a California Roll." He explains that the other Sushi chef isn't in on Sundays or for the full day, which makes half of their menu a LIE after a certain time or Sundays isn't a day for sushi, which I would be fine with, with a heads up. But, nonetheless, he would go in there and make a California Roll if I'd like. The Lady heard me ask our cook how they could have it on the menu and not let anyone know that those items aren't available. She proceeded to treat this as if it were an argument and passive aggressively spoke at me as if I were an uneducated 12 year old, felt pretty degrading. I stood up, asked my son to stand by my side, asked the woman if I could pay for the soup and salad that had already come up. Paid for what I needed and she still tried a few different ways to antagonize a reaction out of me as I was leaving. Inconsistencies are a pet peeve for me, especially coming from a business establishment. Professionalism from my Chef was amazing, he needs a better spot to pick him up and use him for all of his potential!! The lady at the front, lacks all customer service except her smile, she isn't someone I would work with or for, and I will not support her business. My apologies on...
Read moreThe nitpicky rules and charges set up by management ruined this restaurant for me. The food was good, but I won't support a business with bad practices.
We had a group of 8. One of the children (age 7) in our party did not order an entree, though he ordered a drink. We were told by the server we would be CHARGED $7 because he was taking up a seat. I was floored; it's not like they were going to stick a random person into our large party.
Sodas are $2.75 and refillable; specialty sodas (Shirley Temple and Roy Rogers, drinks with grenadine) are $3 but not allowed refills. Something like that should be stated on the menu. Is grenadine really that expensive?
Our food was good, but the portion sizes were small for the price paid.
We had a reservation, but when we were seated we were informed only one cook was available. I understand this situation is out of their hands, but why weren't we informed when we made the reservation (an hour and a half earlier)? That's shady.
At the end of the meal our server took both our signed receipt and the receipt with the list of prices; the server told us this was because the manager checks to make sure the server charged us for everything. Either our server was insane, or these managers...
Read moreFinally tried this place as I've been by it numerous times. Promptly seated and server came to take order. I ordered the steak and shrimp, steak medium rare. Felt ignored by the chef. He paid plenty of attention to the family there. Had to ask for yum sauce and then again a refill. Served the gentleman at the table guys steak properly medium rare and then served mine well done! We'd both ordered the scallops. Is forgotten someone else in the table ordered them. He went to serve them and I said that I'd ordered scallops. The father of the family mentioned earlier said he had too. The server gave him the scallops even though my steak was cooked wrong. They did bring another order of scalps out, but they were cooked quickly so no sear. Don't get me wrong, the food tasted good, but I don't need to spend my money where I feel so overlooked. If one person had asked me how my meal was, I would have told them. Nobody did, so I guess Fujiyama's will get my business going forward even though flavor wise, I think I...
