Simple and Delicious Donut Shop — Restaurant in Washington

I've been coming here since they've opened and the quality and selection has gone significantly downhill. I had to delete my positive review from 4 years ago because I can't recommend this place anymore. It started off as the best doughnut shop in town, but now it's devolved into a typical Latin American bakery which all seem to offer beautiful-looking, dry, crumbly and bad tasting baked goods. They have very few doughnuts to choose from anymore, and I've been getting day-olds sometimes. The prices here have gone up enough to make it no longer worth the gamble to see if they're going to have fresh donuts, with a good variety or dry ones with only a few selections. They're stretching themselves out with the addition of Latin American baked goods, which has made this place no longer simple...

I love the pan dulce and they serve donuts here too. Our fave is the conchas. We have been here several times already and they make the bread fresh every day. There was a couple of times I went and they had sold out of the conchas so now I try to get there earlier to make sure I can get some. I only wish they sold good quality coffee from Mexico to make the visit a bit more enjoyable and being able to eat a concha with a nice cup of coffee to match the vibe. It would be nice if they sold Mexican hot chocolate too. But for now we take our bread home and enjoy it at home for breakfast with coffe. We will keep going back and hopefully one day they will serve good coffee...

My offspring wanted donuts for breakfast to kick off her 5th year of birth and this place did not disappoint. Not only did they have a great selection of truly delicious donuts that are both classic and trendy, the customer service was exceptional. As we paid, my kiddo shared that it was her birthday and as most adults do, the woman asked how old she was and wished her a happy birthday. We were ready to head out the door and as we turned to walk away, the woman got our attention and handed us this monster of a donut!
