The hours are kinda nice (8hrs), but the environment overall is not

Management is often incompetent and cause their own problems for the company that end up coming back on the workers, especially when it comes to repairing the machines properly (which they never do) which means less product in the freezers which means more Saturdays and even more hours. Management also has a strange disdain for their workers, even the ones who don't stand up for themselves. Even so, there is favoritism, its blatant, and HR may acknowledge it when reported but will sweep it under the rug. Most of the other workers are actually quite nice, same with the line owners. There is, of course, the occasional bad egg but overall coworkers out on the floor are generally nice; even if there are ones who don't talk to English speakers because of language barriers. The work itself isn't all that difficult, but some tasks can be tedious and not worth the very low pay workers are given for working in a factory, especially compared to other food production plants. Turnover is high, and they don't train new employees very effectively, which can increase the workload and mistakes for more experienced employees, which again causes numbers to go down given how often it happens which can result in more forced OT. Things are usually done "unofficially" (not by the books) and the place is often very messy. But the lab and front office know when the auditors are coming so they put extra workload on the workers to tidy up before they come and they know what to show the auditors so they don't look in areas that would warrant a bad grade or even a shutdown (which trust me, sometimes is going on). Communication is pretty poor as there is a language barrier, though this could be true at most factories. The citizenship/residency of some of the employees specifically from Mexico are questionable at best and if you get stuck on a line with a person that doesn't know English, you're basically on your own and communication is almost impossible, causing more issues and waste of product which - once again - can affect whether or not they force more Saturdays because its so common.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend working here if you don't like to deal with these sorts of things. I also wouldn't recommend the job for tall people, very hard on the knees and back as many of the machines seem designed either for shorter people (like under 5'8") or modified to aid shorter people. But if you can put up with it and don't mind the comparatively lower pay, more power to you. The hours are nice, when management does their job properly you can get a good amount of time off work on weekends to spend on your family/life.
