Amazing. Simply Amazing.
I found myself in possession of an inherited near one-carat oval antique heirloom diamond in a gold solitaire setting, and, simultaneously, in love. I knew nothing about the diamond other than it was purchased in New York City's Diamond District in the early 1970's. The time had come to propose to my then-girlfriend. One caveat- the setting was no good. Simple yellow gold. The simple part is fine by her- don't get me wrong- but the yellow gold not so much. She's a white gold kinda girl. I explained to her that simple is fine- but asked her "what if you didn't have to go simple". I let her imagination go, and I took notes. I live on Long Island, NY, but my parents have lived in Lafayette for quite some time. When facing the task of finding a jeweler who was up to the task of creating a ring around the stone, I was out of my depth. My parents recommended Stall and Kessler's, due to their sparkling reputation as well as their own dealings with them- and after a few emails I was put in contact with Melissa Overstreet. Melissa was very pleasant and highly professional. A pleasure to work with. Equipped with a few photographs of designs she had sent me, I was able to explain to Melissa the design my fiancé had in mind. The yellow gold would have to go and be replaced with his polished white gold. Pear Diamonds would flank the center stone and diamonds would run 3/4 of the way down the shank. Within a week, both her and their Jeweler Technician, Brandon Justice, were able to create the most amazing ring either of us could have hoped for. The quality of the build and the aesthetics surpassed either of our expectations. It became a breathtaking work of art. Within a month of shipping the Diamond via USPS, I found myself in Lafayette, having flown there for the Easter holiday. While there, I went to Stall &. Kessler's with my Mother. I was greeted by Melissa, and we were offered refreshment while the ring was prepared. The storefront itself is remarkably modern, impeccably clean and well- organized. I found my attention being drawn to the variety of Jewelry in their cases as I awaited the ring. Soon, a black velvet box was laid out before me, and when opened, revealed the ring which I would give to my one and only. There it was- the Oval set between two pear shaped stones, the oval set in a classic six prong setting above two stones in base settings, with proper stones running down the shank. It didn't just shine, it gleamed. We sat there for a moment, dazzled by it. What happened next was, for lack of a better phrase- really cool. Mr. Kessler was present, and invited us to look at the stone under a high-powered microscope. He showed us that the Diamond was Hand- Cut. Not machined. Due to the style and design, it could be, from a minimum, almost 80 years old. We had no idea. He took us on a magnified tour of the stone, showing us the natural inclusions and unique features which make the stone so original. Apparently it has a deep pavilion, which adds to the depth of the stone. But the lack of absolute precision indicates the hand of a human, and only adds to the romance of the stone. I thanked them and completed the transaction, and in about 45 minutes, my Mother and I left. I was completely satisfied with the experience. Soon after, I proposed in The Cloisters Museum in New York City. She said yes! A wonderful jeweler, A fantastic team, and a phenomenal end result. It was-absolutely- worth both the modest cost and the travel time to work with the team at Stall & Kessler's.
UPDATE: 8 Months Later- Wedding Bands!
Nowhere else would do, so once again I headed out west; this time with my beloved alongside me. Not only had Stall and Kessler's created her wedding band ,they had also sized my Grandfather's wedding band to my hand. We arrived once again and were greeted by the sparkling staff, and soon we were presented with her wedding band. It was mesmerizing. A perfect compliment to her engagement ring. In conclusion, This was the single most enjoyable jewelry experience I have ever...
Read moreStall and Kessler’s is a hometown jewelry store with a beautiful facility and ultra friendly staff. Let me tell you how they made my wife cry happy tears on the store floor.
When my wife and I (pre-marriage) were in college, I bought her engagement ring with Sandy’s help after a friends recommendation. My first time buying jewelry, and with a college student budget - Sandy coached me through the process without being pushy. We found the perfect, 1-of-a-kind ring. We ended up buying our wedding bands there too for our courthouse ceremony.
Fast-forward 2 Years, and my wife and I are planning our big family ceremony, but we had to cancel like many others because of COVID. We rescheduled, but 2 weeks before the wedding, I found out I was deploying - and we had to cancel again...
My wife had put so much into planning the wedding (2 years), and to cancel it twice followed with a deployment.. things weren’t great. I called Kris at S+K’s to see if he could somehow get a matching wedding band to surround her engagement ring and have it ready in less than a week. I told him our sob story, asking him to help me give my wife something to brighten her rough year. Kris was onboard, and he had the ring made immediately and shipped next day to the store. It arrived the day before my departure. After tricking my wife into coming into the store, we picked up the ring (a total surprise). Hence, the happy tears right there in the store.
I don’t write reviews often, but S+K’s really helped me pull off the save of the year. I am so happy I’ve continued to work with them, and I look forward to trusting them with my business for...
Read moreMy fiance and I started out looking for engagement rings together, knowing we’d be proposing to one another on a date a few months in the future. After searching the Cincinnati area for a jeweler who could provide recycled metals, responsible stones, and an understanding and appreciation for what I’d envisioned, we’d come up short. I stumbled across Stall & Kessler online and followed up with my first phone call to Jeffrey Kessler. He immediately put me at ease and was very responsive by phone and email. I felt positive enough to make the 3 hour drive with my fiance (nee boyfriend) to visit the store and I could not have had a more wonderful experience. We were received like old friends at the charming storefront and greeted with waters, a lovely rose, and an invitation to have lunch on them.
We worked with the entire team, but were mainly assisted by the very knowledgable and accommodating Kris Kessler. He was preternaturally patient with me throughout the entire process of designing, casting, and finishing the ring. There was no concern or request however small or arbitrary that he did not thoughtfully and kindly consider and respond to, often at length.
I could go down the list name-by-name of every employee who helped us along the way and wax poetic about every lovely gesture, small or large, but suffice it to say, after hundreds of miles logged in transit, and the largest purchase we’ve ever made as a couple, I feel as though we’ve been...
