This Target location has it's pros and it's cons, but mainly cons. Before you waste your time reading this, I'll give you the TL;DR: in Lafayette and most everywhere else, Meijer beats Target when it comes to selection, Walmart beats Target when it comes to price. One major issue would definitely be it's downright pathetic produce department as well as the meat/seafood department. It's bizarre, there are so many aisles of laundry detergent here, and it's sort of insane to have an entire aisle (both sides) dedicated to Tide, but no produce to be found. Target used to have cuter and higher quality clothing, but they can't even say that for themselves--their clothes are hideous now. Just atrocious. The employees are typically polite enough, some are great and some are terrible, but most are satisfactory and courteous. I used to come to this store a ton, but Meijer, or even Walmart would be far better choices as far as selection, price, employee quality, parking, and store cleanliness. Walmart has far better contactless shopping options as well, their drive up, in store pickup, and delivery offerings are superior in almost every way (save for their app's drive up pick up check-in process) especially if you have Walmart+ (which is reduced in price if you use SNAP/EBT.)
Honestly just do yourself a favor and go to Walmart if price is your priority, or go to Meijer if selection is most important to you. This Target is not great as far as Target locations go, and as sad as I am to admit as a former Target devotee, they don't offer anything at all that would justify their much higher price point across the board. Today I went to pick up a one-item order here. Should have been simple enough. However, three people were already in front of me at the customer service counter with no associates in sight. Eventually a few came out from the back and began serving the customers.
By the time I got to the front, I was told that my order didn't exist. I probed further since I knew this was incorrect, and the employee told me that it was cancelled. I said I didn't cancel my order, then he asked another associate who looked for a second and shrugged saying "Oh, we don't have that in stock." I shared that the app had allowed the order to be placed, and it didn't make sense since I had received email communication that the order was ready two hours ago. Both employees offered no way to remedy the situation, and remained unapologetic and dismissive.
A third, more experienced associate thankfully came out and shared that after the order was placed the item was found to be out of stock and they had automatically cancelled it, and the system had failed to send me a notification. He gave me a $10 gift card for the inconvenience and actually apologized! Kudos to him for quickly explaining the situation and remediating it, he was the reason my review isn't down to one star.
I ended up having to order the item online to be delivered. The main issue was with the system, but the way the first two employees handled it was very unprofessional.

Read moreI left specific instructions to be called when My order arrived at the store . I tattoo for a living, own the studio . I stay extremely busy so therefore only have the time to view email at home (20 minutes from my local store). Well, the last few days ive worked late into the night (2-3am), so I didn't look at my email until today. Now I had been wondering what the hold up with my order was but I figured due to time of year that the service was backed up...Imagine my surprise to read an email that stated I had until 11 pm yesterday to pick my order up or it was to be sent back!!!...So I called the store and It didn't get sent back..nope, my items were placed on the sales floor to be sold. The customer service rep had the nerve to laugh at me when I expressed my displeasure with the situation..and then Lie about it when I called her out!! Luckily 4 of the 6 items were recovered, but since the initial payment was refunded back to my card, I have to repurchase those 4 items at today's current price rather than the Black Friday sale price..so now, not only will I never shop Target again....but I will use my very public platform to ensure none of my clients does either.
