Absolute Disaster
If I could give negative stars, I would. Spent an hour and a half here for two of the simplest haircuts imaginableāa basic undercut, a #2 on the sides and back, and a short trim on top. Thatās it. Somehow, despite repeated explanations, visual cues, and multiple attempts, the two so-called barbers failed spectacularly to execute the most basic instructions. And to be clear, I don't mean it was like an hour and a half or it felt like an hour and a half, and mean a literal hour and a gaw'damn half on this mess of a job.
The guy cutting my hair couldnāt grasp the difference between an undercut and a fade, no matter how many times I told him. Instead of fixing his mistake, he shortened the wrong areaāeven as I pointed directly at the spot he needed to fix. The lady cutting my sonās hair? Somehow managed to give him an undercut on one side and a fade on the other. I wish I was joking. Even better, she had the nerve to sit there and attempt to justify it with some absurd nonsense about the way he combs his hair. Excuse me? One head. One hairstyle. You donāt base a cut on how the hair happens to be combed at that exact second, and sure as hell don't give someone two completely different types of haircuts on each side of their head.
To make matters worse, after destroying our haircuts, both of them attempted "fixes" that only made things worse. And despite the undeniable incompetence on display, they still had the audacity to charge full price.
If either of them had just admitted up front that they donāt know what an undercut is or that they only cut womenās hair, we could have saved ourselves the time, frustration, and the humiliating task of now finding another place to salvage these disasters.
Never again. If you value your time, your hair, and your sanity, go literally...

I ended up working with someone who knew how to work with hair like mine and had a lot of great advice for things I could try doing with it and how to style it. On reflection I think I just got matched with the wrong person initially, Bishops really went out of their way to make things right and left me really happy with my results.
Update 2022-01-28: I got a call from the owner asking to talk to me who apologized and explained that the person I'd worked with was still in training and didn't have a lot of familiarity with longer hair. She was very apologetic and wanted offered to make things right - I'll be having a follow up appointment that will be with someone who knows how to work with longer curly hair that will hopefully go well.
Went in to get my hair cut and potentially styled. I've got a curly mess and was looking for advice, but the fellow who (with his mask tucked under his nostrils) spent ~5 minutes brushing it into a frizzy mess and then snipped a few bits of hair off with his scissors before sending me on my way. The whole experience was so short and awkward that I wasn't even sure what I was being charged for. While I can't say if the stylist I worked with was representative of the whole shop, I'm pretty disappointed with both the experience and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been coming to Bishop's since they opened here in Lake Forest I got their coupon in the mail for their complimentary grand opening free haircut. I have been a steady customer never had a problem always had a great haircut always been treated decent and kindly I just walked in 3:00 on a Sunday and I was told I cannot be helped they have no walk-ins allowed I have been walking in and getting my haircut done here for 5 years how is it all of a sudden no walk-ins can be taken in I am very discouraged. Lucky for me right across the street there is a very nice and well owned well-kept barber shop called The men's quarters they are less damage on your wallet and friendlier they seem to recognize my face when I come in even though it's been about 7 years since I've gotten a haircut from them. There is no need to feel sad while leaving a barber shop at 3:00 in the afternoon when they don't close until 5:00 this is the worst I've ever felt leaving a barber shop even after getting bad haircuts and all of that the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is 2 weeks the difference between a bad hair place and a good hair place is a lifetime of memories of being treated badly even if...
