Gearhead Outfitters | Lincoln Square | Chicago outdoor gear and apparel store — Local services in Lake View Township

I just love this store. It's pricey, but I find that these brands last forever so occasionally I invest. This past Sunday I had less than an hour to pull together an outfit for a photo shoot. I drove to the Evanston store only to find out they have, sadly, closed. I called the Lincoln Square location and Andrew hopped right in to help me.

By the time I got there with about 30 minutes before closing, he had set aside several pair of shoes in my size. The first pair I tried on was perfect. He also took it upon himself to add some Birkenstock Papillio sandals- something I also needed for this hot season- and they fit perfectly. Andrew and Avery made sure I had the clothing sizes I needed, and Andy (I think I got his name right?) added a nice touch of being smiley and kind.

Sean stayed patient even after I realized that I had forgotten to ask them to include a store credit that I had. Even though I was there for a few minutes after closing they all treated me with kindness.

I was able to find some sale clothing in the brands I love. KÜHL, Carve, and Vuori notably, high quality investment pieces I will have forever. I have 2 pair of Carve jeans that I bought over ten years ago and they are still in perfect shape.

I highly recommend shopping at Gearhead in Lincoln Square.

Dogs are welcome, there's a couch & chairs around a coffee table supplied with crayons and paper and other things for kids of all ages (like me). The vibe is stellar.

I absolutely love coming to this store! I am always able to find different outdoor clothing for whatever adventure I am about to go on, whether it's in Iceland or just around Chicago. I especially enjoy that dogs are welcome in the store. This allows my husky to go in and cool off in the A/C during the hot summers while we are on our walks .The workers always offer him a treat or some water, which is nice since yesterday refuses water from everywhere else along the square (Uncle Dan's water is the best in his eyes). Great selection of outdoor equipment and nice, quality, fashionable casual clothes. Staff is always super friendly and they go out of their way to help with any questions and make good suggestions, including travel tips! Pretty expensive in general, but it's all quality stuff from good brands, they usually charge manufacturer retail price, so it's fair. You usuallt can find some good things on sale too, but sizes on sale clothes is limited. Overall terrific, just wish it wasn't so expensive. At least you're supporting a local business and get...
