Finally visited Vaca’s today!!! I’ve followed them on insta for a long time. My husband and I live in the suburbs. Took us about an hour to get there because of traffic but 100% worth the trek. I have a severe dairy allergy so I find peace and comfort in vegan places as I know I’m safe to eat WHATEVER I want (truthfully … I wish more restaurants had more visibility when it comes to allergies.. but that’s a rant for another day). Although I am not a vegan (my husband also far from that) we both enjoyed this sooo much.
I had the special flavor of the month, peanut butter soft serve swirled with grape soft serve. Both flavors were perfectly balanced and didn’t over power eachother. The grape was super light and pb was just right lol. My husband had the Cookie Monster sundae. We also bought and split one of their Brazilian cheeze breads (they only had 2 left so I didn’t want to take both) they asked if we wanted it warmed up and my god it was sooo good and the perfect salty treat to go with the sweet ice cream. My husband (who is not allergic to dairy) said they tasted identical to a cheese bread that you would get at a Brazilian steakhouse.
Vegan or non vegan, anyone literally anyone at all would 1000% love this place and can’t wait to make another trip there one day. I was too excited to try it that I forgot to...

As a lifelong Chicagoan, I truly appreciate a good ice cream shop. And Vaca's Creamery, located in Wicker Park, is the real deal. This cozy spot offers over 40 inventive ice cream flavors that rotate frequently based on seasonal ingredients. On my recent visit, I indulged in a scoop of Salty Caramel - made with Nutella and flecks of sea salt. So decadent!
The staff is extremely friendly and they clearly take pride in their craft. I had some fun chats with the owners who shared how they source dairy from local farms. It's nice to support a small business committed to Chicagoland.
After treating myself, I enjoyed my ice cream while strolling along North Avenue, taking in the funky shops and colorful murals that give Wicker Park its edgy vibe. Vaca's is also just a few blocks from the iconic Buckinghams fountain, making it a perfect post-Millennium Park treat.
Whether you're a lifelong resident or visitor checking out The Chi, do yourself a favor and experience what makes Vaca's Creamery worth the wait on those hot summer days. You'll leave with a cool scoop and a full belly - even on the windiest of days! I'll be back again soon for another...
Read moreI've been to their other smaller location in the city but since I was in the area visiting a friend and craving some coffee but wanted something a little different, I decided to check out this spot.
I went with the affogato so now I could enjoy coffee but also still have some ice cream. I opted for the pistachio which was really nice. The coffee was smooth and not too bitter, mixing really well with the ice cream. Since I believe the ice cream is vegan, the texture is going to be a little bit different from what you're used to, but it was still pleasant.
The outdoor seating in the little plaza was enticing but it was getting a little bit too cold to sit out there with ice cream in November. Otherwise the space is cute but can feel a bit sparse.
I go back to try other flavors or some of the recommended combination treats they had on the menu. The staff was friendly and ordering was extremely simple. They were even helping someone who wanted a coffee drink that wasn't on the menu get something as close as possible to what they were...
