First I'll list positives. Employees, for the most part, are kind. Like all thrifts theres a good variety of objects, if you're looking for somewhat well priced furniture this is def the place to go. Clothing options are pretty good.
The pricing in this store on items however is atrocious and extremely inconsistent. As a vintage curator and dealer I find prices here to be so outlandish that I just have to laugh when I see the tags. Seriously, save yourself the money and just buy on eBay and you'll easily save a good $30-$150+ on items in this shop. A pair of Staffordshire Dogs in their cabinet selling for $165 and I found the exact pair on eBay for $95, Wedgwood platter selling for $40 and again, only $20 on eBay. Framed painting signed by artist, asking $475 and again on eBay the same artists work is going for $300. Its truly a shame that a small charity shop that is getting their inventory for free as donations has taken the corporate route of price gouging their customers (who, mind you, if they're shopping at a charity shop are not the upper crust). Whoever is in charge of their pricing seriously needs to be evaluated by someone higher up in the organization/terminated because they are truly doing an abysmal job and overcharging inventory.
Overall store is okay, bit overcrowded/unclean but what thrift isn't. I think they'd see a much happier customer base if they priced things appropriately instead of trying to rip off their customers....
Read moreI come here 1-2 times a month since I live within walking distance. I buy most of my clothes here, and a lot of my home decor too. It's a good place to go when you have time to dig through the racks and piles to find those hidden gems. Staff generally leaves me alone while I spend up to two hours browsing, which is perfect for my introverted solo outings.
Pricing is inconsistent, and often too high, especially for used furniture and knickknacks. There are monthly tag deals on clothing so if you're savvy and go regularly you can find good deals.
Like others have mentioned, the place is cluttered with furniture blocking the aisles and stacked high in ways that are dangerous/inaccessible. They should lower their furniture prices to prevent items from cluttering the floor. They get a ton of nice donations every day and could move these items more quickly if pricing was more accessible for local college students and less affluent customers.
I donate a lot of my old clothes here too and am always amused to see how they price my old things. For example I donated a 6 year old, faded Lululemon sports bra and saw they were selling it for $22 in the designer section (way too high, but I think someone did buy it because I didn't see it at my last visit).
Overall I'm happy to have this store in the neighborhood as it gives me a good way to spend a free afternoon and I always seem...
Read moreOne of my favorite resale shops! I have bought some great, gently used, items here for far less than their cost new!
Right now, as I write this review, I am listening to the sound of my beautiful, large, slate oriental style water fountain that I purchased there about a week ago. The gentleman who helped me test it before buying was so kind and courteous, as are their other staff members.
What I. also, love about this delightful shop is its ambiance. You can feel it when you first step through the door. Clean and orderly, It doesn't look like a resale shop at all and the furniture, clothing, etc. are all tastefully displayed. There are also dressing rooms available so you can try on your clothing.
Price wise, I think they are very reasonable and as you look around, you will find that there is something there that you can well afford! It doesn't get any cheaper than 50 cents! Also, parking is available in front of their store.
Mt. Sinai Resale Shop is one of the best kept secrets in Lincoln Park/East Lakeview... Believe me, if you are looking for some real second-hand treasures that are reasonably priced and of good quality, this is definitely the place to go... You will, also, find your shopping experience to be quite...
