Ray's Barber Shop — Local services in Lakeside

I’ve went here a couple times and Ray specifically did great but recently went back after moving to Sacramento and waited a bit to get a haircut and when i had gone none of the original guys i’ve seen were there so i was a bit skeptical at first but i know ray does great so was assuming the same with his people, fast forward to me getting the haircut, i got cut by a girl with dark black hair nose piercing and a bit of tattoos, anyways if you see her RUN she did notttt know how to cut hair, she had me TURNED AROUND to where i was facing the tvs the whole time so i could purposely not see my cut as she was cutting it, and word of advice to her is if she can’t conversate while cutting hair she should just not talk respectfully, i said one inch off the top and a little off the sides and she barely cut the sides right, and not even that, the ONE INCH i asked to be cut off the top ended up being 3 inches off the top because she wasn’t paying attention to my haircut just her conversation, sorry ray but you lost my business permanently and my friends/family business too cause having to see who’s there to depend on if my haircuts gonna be good shouldn’t be the case, i should be able to make walk in and whoever is available can cut hair good cause now i need to go to a barber who can 1. fix my haircut and 2. know to actually cut hair. if you come here ONLY GET CUT BY RAY, if anyone else is...

I can't say enough great things about Ray's!!! We went there Sunday 12/6 (the day our world was shutting down again). We had family pictures scheduled and needed to be in alpine by 3:15. When we got to Rays at 2:10 they said they'd have time to cut and style my 2 boys. 7 and 8. There were 2 men mid cut and 2 men waiting. We waited for like 10 minutes but since I was in a crunch I asked the owner how long it might be as I normally don't mind waiting but I may need to go somewhere else. I explained the situation. He said no well do it. He looked to the parking lot and called one of the barbers from their car. Apparently the 2 men waiting were waiting specifically for the barbers already working. The barber who did my boys hair was fast and did such a great cut!!! My boys thought the barber was super cool and they looked soo handsome for our pictures. I did forget to get a picture so I will update when our pictures come in from the photographer. The only thing that was not great is they accept cash only and we didn't know that. BUT the owner was willing to let us come back and pay after pictures which was so nice. But my husband went and got cash from the gas station. Also their prices...

Toddler cut a cry free success!

My 2 yr old had his 4th haircut today and it was absolutely wonderful! Mike took his time and was so calm and easy going with my toddler who is not a fan of cuts… I’m talking needing to pin the boy down for cuts. Mike listened to me when I told him what would set him off…. Loud clippers, vacuum and capes and made sure to use the quietest clippers at the last moment and even asked the guys around him not to use the air hose so it wouldn’t scare my son. For the first time my son actually got a cut that we loved and the only tears he had was when we had to leave. The kid broke down crying outside and fought me until I got him in his car seat because he wanted to go back… apparently he likes the shop and the toys he had there. We drove to see Mike from an hour away and it was so worth the drive. We will always come back here, my son wasn’t traumatized today, and nor was I. So grateful for Mike and Rays Barber Shop.

Oh and there’s old men sitting outside the shop all talking and hanging out which we thought was pretty awesome, they were all so nice to my son every time...
