Niemann Ace Hardware — Local services in Lakeville

I have always enjoyed shopping at Ace hardware stores for the extra quality of customer service. I just moved to Lakeville this week from out of state and the first opportunity I got to go buy a new lawnmower I chose this store with confidence that the service would be as I'm accustomed to. I couldn't be more disappointed ! I purchased a Toro Timemaster (a $900 walk behind) and when it was started for the first time in my yard it immediately started smoking profusely and blew oil out the exhaust. I shut it off and realized that it was horribly over filled with oil. I loaded it back up and returned it to the store where I was told they would have it ready the next day. It was indeed ready today but when I picked it up it still had oil all over the deck because their idea of cleaning it up was to smear it around with paper towels. You would think in a situation like this a manager would step in and make sure that I was being taken care of appropriately or at least a heartfelt apology would be offered by SOMEONE for my time wasted transporting the mower back and forth and the possible damage that could have occurred to a very expensive purchase due to their negligence but I got nothing ! No apology of any sort... I was planning on spending a couple hundred dollars more in their store today, but after awkwardly waiting for some type of apology and receiving none I put the items back and shopped big box hardware after I left. I will not be returning to this store ever again. I bought my Toro from an authorized dealer so I could have it serviced where I bought it, but after this disappointing experience I will be taking it elsewhere for any service unless the problem is a leaking seal from an oil...

I live in St Paul and I was on a journey to find a specific snow blower. After going to several stores I somehow ended up at this Ace in Lakeville. And I’m extremely happy that I did. The first person to help did everything to find that certain model. He finally found it and said they could even deliver it to me today. The delivery person showed me how to start it and helped me put it in my garage. Everyone that helped me was so nice and gave me tips on how to care for my snowblower. I’m new to the Lakeville area and was shocked at how good the customer service was here. This very young boy helped me get exactly what I needed while being respectful and patient of my lack of knowledge. He also treated me like regular customer even though there was only 5 minutes left until closing. (I think his name was Jack or Jackson?) At the register the cashier started a conversation with me like I had known them for years (I didn’t catch their name but they were very friendly and polite).
