I've been going to Gamestop since its foundation. I've been a Game Informer (Gamestop's magazine property) subscriber equally as long. Everything about Gamestop and GI is great.
BUT this Gamestop is probably the worst store in Denver. It's the closest one for me, so I've tolerated the sub-par service and selection up until now. I went to return a game that didn't work and purchase a different one. As I handed over the item I was returning, the manager, "Chris"...someone I'd never seen there before...seemed very put out by having to handle the return.
When it was discovered that there was no replacement copy for the game I brought back, I decided on a different one, which would cost a couple of extra bucks. I recalled that I had buckled to their gestapo sales tactics a few weeks back and put $5 on a pre-order game.
Since it was only five bucks and the game's release is still a couple months away, I figured I'd cancel that reservation and use that five bucks to cover my purchase. When I asked to do so, "Chris", rolled his eyes, gave a rude smirk and said "Well, yeah if you're okay with LOSING THAT, then sure".
I simply nodded in agreement, knowing full well that they were the only ones losing anything (my five dollars), and that I could easily procure that item in two months when it releases, regardless of any reservation held. I've never had a manager in a CUSTOMER SERVICE position treat me so rudely.
The icing on the cake was the game case they gave me for the disc I bought. It was broken in half, looked like it'd been run over by a car and fell apart as soon as I opened it when I got home. Guess gamestop needs to save 50 cents whenever they can on disc cases.
This new (maybe just new to me) "Chris" person has completely repulsed me from going to this Gamestop ever again, and even after years of patronage and literally thousands of dollars poured into Gamestop, I will try to find any other store to which I can bring my business where I'll be treated with at least some basic courtesy. I just don't want my hard earned money going to support a place that employs people like Chris, especially in a management position....
Read moreMy wife and I just wasted an entire hour driving to this GameStop because they claimed to have an item we wanted in stock. But when we arrived, we were flat-out denied the ability to purchase it because District Management decided the item couldn't be sold. Are you serious? This is absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable! What kind of business does this? Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this GameStop.
Edit: After this nonsense, I called back and spoke to someone named Taylor to explain that corporate confirmed they should not have denied me my purchase and are opening an investigation to figure out why this store is outright blocking customers from buying what they need. Taylor's response? A rude, sarcastic, dismissive tone before hanging up on me. Unbelievable! This store's behavior is beyond shameful. No wonder GameStop is going under. With management and employees like this, it's not surprising they're shutting down. They've successfully ruined the customer experience forever for me. And to think I just got a GameStop credit card and Pro membership—forget it. I’ll be canceling both and taking my money elsewhere to a company that actually values...
Read moreIf there is one GameStop to let you support your local GME investments, this one is... Well, I suggest many others nearby, let's say that.
The hours have been sketchy ever since they reopened, sometimes only open for a few hours, other times open all day. However, when they are open, the store lacks just about as much options as some smaller stores even have. Which is weird, considering the store has the room for it.
The Nintendo Switch selection is also very barebones when we are talking variety. If it ain't Mario or Pokémon, better be a GotY nominee if this store ever cares much. Most of my questions were also met with offers to order it online, where it can then be shipped to the Mausoleum, which begs the question; "Why even order it in store?"
Honestly, this particular GameStop is allergic to being a retail store of any kind, best keep your diamonds for...
