Robin's Auto Service — Local services in Larkspur

Robin’s Auto Service (RAS) is exceptional! And – that is a word I rarely use when posting reviews. Here’s what you experience from RAS: 1) a highly skilled mechanic working on your car, 2) an absolutely honest man – Robin, the owner – who charges you a fair price, 3) an auto shop who explains what needs to be done and why, 4) Marge, the Admin. Asst., who calls you promptly when your car is finished, and 5) an auto shop who you can absolutely trust!

Here is a summary of two service experiences over a two week period: I have lived in Larkspur since 2010, and began using RAS two weeks ago bc my auto repair shop closed. I met with Robin and he reviewed the specific items that would be part of my 15,000 mile checkup, the cost, and that I could bring in my car and wait. But – one day before I was scheduled to bring it in, I noticed a major dashboard switch was broken, so I drive to RAR at approx.. 3:00 P.m. and Robin stopped what he was doing and called to see if the switch could arrive the following morning. This was confirmed while I waited about 5 minutes, and it was installed along with the 15000 check up the next day. I waited for my car in the very comfortable waiting room. Bc my 98 4 Runner has 167,000 , the mechanic pointed out that there was an oil leak coming from the engine block and I was advised to schedule an appt. for this. A week later, I dropped off my car and that too...

f I could give 10 stars I would. If you are looking for a honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and affordable mechanic then don’t look any further. Robins auto service is the place for you. I came in with a list of different concerns regarding my vehicle, and Robin was very attentive to each one. He was honest about some of my concerns not being anything to worry about, when other mechanics would probably try to take advantage and tell me I need to purchase services that I don’t really need. The one concern that was legitimate (a knocking sound coming from under the back of my car when I hit bumps) was quickly diagnosed, he showed me the broken sway bar link under the car that was knocking, and he ordered the part and his team fixed it the same day. The estimate and final price was also much lower than I had expected and he even topped off all my fluids for free upon completion of the job. He has a comfy set of couches that you can sit on while waiting for the repair to be done too. He also told me that he noticed another repair I may need in the future, showed me the cause of it, and gave me another affordable estimate for that. All in all, I’m very satisfied with my experience at this shop and I’m looking forward to continue utilizing their services for all my auto repair needs....

I've been going to Robin's for years, before he moved to the new location. Two things separate this shop from the competition (particularly the dealers). First, Robin is the most knowledgeable mechanic I have ever met. He keeps current with all of the computer diagnostic methods on newer cars. Secondly, Robin and his crew are strictly honest and will not try to sell you on fixing something that doesn't need fixing.

They are outstanding. Robin is the smartest and most fair mechanic I've ever met. He understands customer service and is always willing to work with you. Every time I've been there I come away with a smile on my face. More than once I've shown up with a problem and no appointment, like today and it gets fixed on the spot. In fairness, you can't always expect that but more often than not they take care of things quickly and much more reasonably than the dealer shops. I can't recommend them enough. They're clearly the best repair shop I've been to in my lifetime. I wouldn't consider going anywhere...
