Girrl, I drove across bridges, through tunnels, and over mountains to get to this place!!! But it was well worth it for Whitney Hanson’s book tour!
After my exhausting journey across the Bay, I stopped into the coffee shop to grab more caffeine and the staff behind the counter were more than accommodating and welcoming. We chitted and chatted for a minute or two until my bladder got the best of me and they turned me towards the restroom, which just so happened to be in another building filled with more amazing books and trinkets! Once I finished my business I got to holiday shopping, the staff and I definitely found plenty of gifts to gift myself. I left with a whole bag of knick knacks, journals, and of course books! Then with my bag of trinkets and half drunken coffee I went to find my seating for the poetry reading! And wouldn’t you know! Front row was available! So I wiggled my way to that VIP section and got to see TikTok’s favorite poet! All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I would...
Read moreWhen I walked in, this lady behind the counter looked at me unpleasantly and jumped out from her seat and said "Do you need any help?" uptight. I just said my husband and my daughter came here this morning so I am also checking out the store. After that, she stalked me a little even. I ordered Chai at their caffe and was waiting for my husband to come, and I saw that she's still looking at me! I could see from the reflection of windows. After that I could even that see she was talking something bad with another employee from her facial expressions. I felt very uncomfortable. I put 2 stars instead of 1 because my husband went to talk to the manager and she was very understanding and promised with him that she will talk to her which we hugely appreciated. My husband talked to the lady, but she was just being smug, just nodded annoyingly(my husband told me that.) - I think she will be forever racist whether someone talks to her or not - and it's no...
Read moreI am a little sad. I bought a $22 note card box hoping to support an independent bookstore and artist, and two of the beautiful cards were just.....not...there? I called and they offered to exchange but since I'm visiting from out of town, I'm basically taking the Hit. A little disappointing that the employee didnt check to see if the cards were there (and yes I'm kicking myself that I didnt either), and that the manager offered no explanation or apology. One employee did apologize over the phone. The store itself is fine, and employees are friendly. Independent bookstores tend to carry more unique books and items so that's pretty much all there. Otherwise, I hate to say it but, if you're looking for Tom Killion cards, consider saving ourself the trip and order from the heyday books website unless...
