Ordered a drip coffee expecting it to be exactly that—a hot, straightforward $4 (with tip) drip coffee. Instead, it tasted so weak it felt like drinking watered-down water. Upon mentioning this to the barista (presumably the owner), I was met with silence and blank stares and then finally informed they only make light and medium roast drip coffee, which was fine, but the complete lack of response afterward was unsettling.
While waiting for my second coffee in my order, I politely asked another staff member to pour out the first one so I wouldn’t place a full cup of milky hot water into their garbage bin, clearly within earshot of the barista. This was met by an awkward silence—no offer for an alternative drink, no suggestion of a refund, nothing. It was as if there was zero care that I had paid for something I no longer possessed.
When my second drink arrived, there was still no acknowledgment of the earlier issue. I found myself reflecting that even Starbucks would typically offer some gesture of customer service, like making an alternative drink (it’s not that difficult and drip coffee costs $0.10 at cost). And the frustrating part is, I don’t want Starbucks—I genuinely prefer supporting small businesses. Maybe they have so many customers that this is ok? 🤷🏾♀️
The final awkward touch was as I was leaving. The barista called out, “The next one’s on us, for the one you didn’t drink.” Not this one—the next one. Remarkable. I could have expressed my dissatisfaction at that moment, but the Marin County-style awkwardness amongst the three employees behind the bar left me simply needing to stay composed and leave.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized and oddly entitled. The service was uncomfortable and disappointing. I’m sure I’ll receive some quirky response to this review, but spare the explanations. Just be better for the...
Read moreGreat new coffee shop! They offer all single origin beans roasted by the owner that are lighter roasts and have wonderful complex flavor. You needn’t be a coffee snob to enjoy Endless Quest, but if you are someone who knows your James Hoffman from your Tetsu Kasuya, you will find plenty to enjoy here. One really special feature—they have an awesome Kyoto-style slow drip brewer actively brewing on the counter. It’s a tower of glass tubes that looks like it came from the laboratory of some Victorian chemist and the coffee it produces has bright, fruity notes that matched well with the sunny, clear winter day that I came by the shop. The staff are also super pleasant and clearly care about their craft. Baristas Jayden and Leilani whipped up a couple excellent cortados (and an iced coffee from the tower) and manager Tom happily shared his knowledge about the coffee scene both here in the Bay and beyond. Great service, great product....
Read moreI would have given five stars for my experience here even without the added nostalgia I felt. I learned that the owner's name is Ryan and the manager's name is Garrett which made me reminisce and miss my son Ryan Garrett who is currently 2338 miles away. I hadn't seen my Ryan in 68 days, and pondered how it felt longer as I lingered over my drinks.
Yirgacheffe is my go-to for a solid cuppa so when Garrett said it was roasted with more expressive notes than 'solid' I was intrigued. All the vibes from this shop gave me the confidence that I could trust his description so I let down my "prove it" attitude and ordered the espresso with curiosity. Dang. I didn't know Yirgacheffe could do that.
And then I sampled it cold brewed and was reminded that giving up alcohol isn't hard because I can enjoy complexity and refreshment in other forms. Like this.
If you take your coffee game seriously come here because they know...
