Chad has done great work for me in the past, but unfortunately, today he informed me not to ever come into his store again.
The reason being is that he charged me for an N64 mod that not only wasnât functioning, but he had broken as well. After finding someone that could perform the mod properly, I had to go back to Grand Line in order to ask for my money back. Chad had a pretty hard time admitting fault, due to his solder being what he called âperfectâ.
Chad was also unclear how to properly connect the ribbon cable, so he decided to give it the best hot glue job that someone who wasnât willing to do more research than he deemed necessary to attempt to keep the ribbon in place.
Chad had originally agreed to meet me half way with the repair. However, all I wanted was the original $100 that I gave him to do the mod. Which I asked for. He told me that wasnât going to happen, to which I replied that itâs actually less than what he had originally agreed to pay. After that, I told him how much the repair was. His response was that I was being ripped off. He then also tried to place fault on me for giving him a broken system to mod. Which is double baffling. If the system had any issues, I would be more than willing to pay him to repair them. Furthermore, If anyone would know that there was something wrong with the system it should have been him.
After I firmly stood my ground, he handed me $100 out of his wallet and told me to never come back.
Which is a shame, Chad keeps a great stock of items that you normally donât see at other stores in town. And while I normally go to Ben Fong, from iFixRetro, for mods of this nature, after dealing with a very similar situation with a Sega Dreamcast that was given to âA Gamers Paradiseâ a few years back. I decided to go to Chad because heâs local and has until this point been pleasant to chat with while also normally meeting deadlines for other projects I've brought to him.
Thankfully I found someone that iFixRetro taught the craft to in @samtron5000 over ig. Not only did she finish the mod, but she also fixed what Chad broke while botching the install in the first place.
If youâre local and have anything that youâre looking to get done hit her up over ig, if itâs in her wheel house sheâll get it done. For everyone else thatâs looking for a place to go hit up Ben Fong with @iFixRetro. He's saved me more than once for sure.
Also, if youâre looking for a good spot to hit in town that provides great customer service, check out Retro City Games. They have two locations in Vegas and treat customers very well. Give your business to people that do good...
Read moreWent in two weeks again and forgot to post my review...But I shall now. Super nice owner. He and his children were in when u came by. Kids were playing videogames, all well behaved... Gave a good family atmosphere. Store owner was very helpful with all my questions. Took time with everyone that came in the store as well. This was no small feat since there were, by my count, 10+ people in. Of course, the retro community can be great, or toxic. This guy's adds to the good rep.
The store isn't huge by any means, but it's laid out well, and categorized properly. He's got everything up to the Saturn and PS2 as far as I could tell. And I'm sure he has more...But was definitely about the retro era. I'm actually going to head back today to see if there are anymore Mattel Intellivision boxed games. Perhaps a few more Atari 2600 or Nintendo 8bit games I've been looking for.
Super clean store. Friendly owner. These are the local stores you need to keep in business.
One thing though...The store is upstairs lol. I drove into the complex and couldn't find it at first....
Read moreBeing new to Vegas I had my doubts about this place but after my first visit I was honestly very excited to revisit the place. The owner has been very polite and helpful I would recommend this place if you are looking for older games. I do not think any of the items I purchased were overpriced and after taking a glance around the store I am sure that the prices are fair. After asking the owner I can now confirm that if you are looking for a certain title he cannot pull it up and assure you if it's available, you have to visit and look for the case yourself but at least with me it is not an issue as I love browsing through all the games. They are all in alphabetical order and in their console group. Definitely earns five starts...
