After careful consideration, I would be remis to not make other consumers aware of the following: Earlier this year I began sifting through various clothing items that I nor my daughter needed. I knew Platoâs Closet is often looking for items and I brought what was a preliminary trip. After learning what they were looking for given the time of year, I decided to continue my âspring cleaningâ endeavor and brought more items which involved several trips. After what I deemed a mutually beneficial transaction with this establishment, I was told the owner/manager wanted a word. I was brought to the back office and inquired about my recent activity in the store. I was taken aback that one of his employees made an unfounded assertion. As I have frequented Platoâs on various occasions both in its current location as well as when they were out west, I was both appalled and shocked that a customer would be disparaged by what was a complete misunderstanding. Providing this was not racially motivated, I can only surmise that the employees are either incompetent or motivated by other biases. Because I have never had any such treatment at this particular Platoâs Closet, it is clear a relatively new employee who is not aware that I visit not just for my attire, but my teenage daughter. That one would even suggest any inappropriate behavior teeters at the precipice of slanderous if not harassing behavior. In light of this, I am less than inclined to bring my business to this particular Platoâs as I know of various locations within the Kansas City locale. In short, when stepping foot in the Lawrence Platoâs Closet â Buyer Beware. I do not recommend this establishment until I have received a sincere apology from the owner/manager.

Read moreI recently had an encounter at your store on Tuesday around 11 am, and I felt compelled to share my experience.
While I understand that the buying process involves evaluating the condition of the items, I was taken aback by the level of rudeness displayed by one of your team members. I asked a question about a brand and asking if you guys typically purchase items from said brand. This led to an unexpected and disrespectful response, focusing on perceived flaws in the clothing. The girl stated âwell a lot of your clothes had small stains. And we donât do stain removal here thatâs why we didnât buy themâ when that had nothing to do with my question.
Moreover, I've been a frequent seller at Plato's over the years, and this visit deviated significantly from my previous experiences. The lack of effort in neatly returning the items, especially considering most were new with tags, was disappointing. Additionally, the manner in which my boxes were handled, kicked down the ramp without a courteous interaction, was both unprofessional and discourteous. Yes. The employee. Kicked down my boxes on the ramp by the cash register instead of picking them up and handing it to me or even placing on the counter. I had to bend down awkwardly in front of everyone in the store trying to grab my items. It was embarrassing and awful
As someone with a background in retail management, I understand the importance of providing constructive feedback to improve customer experiences. I trust that you will address these concerns appropriately, ensuring that future interactions align with the professional standards Plato's...
Read moreI wish I could have given a lower score because this place really deserved it. I brought my granddaughters to the Lawrence Platoâs. We walked away vowing to only go to the Topeka one from now on. Looking at the majority of your reviews, it seems that we werenât the only ones who experienced extreme rudeness and disrespect from your employees. They were condescending and acted as though we were interrupting their social time. It was obvious that they didnât want to go through the clothes we had brought in. They especially didnât want us waiting and when we got our items back I think I know why. There was no evidence that they had even looked at the items. They were so rude to my girls and were even making faces and just shoved the tubs at them. My grandkids talked all the way home about how their bosses and places of employment wouldnât tolerate that kind of behavior. Itâs a sad statement about our current society when you read these reviews and realize that evidently management has the same philosophy as the people they employ. Nothing seems to have changed and the girls are not required to treat customers respectfully . Itâs a dirty store with nasty people working. Anyone reading this and wondering about the quality of the store, do yourself a favor and drive the extra 15 minutes to Topeka! Clean, fun store with great prices and wonderful customer care...
