UPDATE: I walked into the Beautiful Salon Di Marco to get my supposedly racially charged refund, and Mr. Carlos (who wouldn't tell me his last name on the phone) came out to see me, a "racist" Latina there to greet him .he hung his head in shame when I told him my heritage and that I was formally saying his first name in our shared native language because he was so rude to me on the phone. He did not apologize for making his rude remarks or racially charged assumption that I am white because I took my husband's last name. He spelled my name wrong on the refund receipt and I asked him to correct it because the card belongs to a business account and I need exact detailed records for our taxes. He then proceeded to get frustrated and Say "Jesus Christ" because I asked him to correct it . When he spelled my first name wrong the SECOND TIME I asked for another correction. he then said the Lord's name in Vain a second time in front of another customer. Mr. Carlos has no respect for his customers and with his pompous attitude, distasteful language, poor people skills and horrible phone etiquette. And then presumptuously using racism as a defense for His completely rude miscommunication on the phone when I was asking questions about pricing.
His employees seem very nice, friendly, and helpful. But "Mr. Carlos" (since saying it in Spanish is racist) has to be the most tactless small business owner I have ever encountered. I'm pretty sure one of his stylst has her own shop now, so I'm gonna take my business to her cuz I could understand why anyone wouldnt to want to work for someone so arrogant and ignorant at the same time.
I haven't been in yet, got a 100$ gift certificate for Christmas though. And I will say after speaking to "Carlos" on the phone I'm not excited about going here either. I have very thin and fine hair, meaning I don't have alot of hair at all .I called inquiring about a wash cut and highlight . To find out that Carlos charges 85-95$ for highlights, no matter how much product they have to use. The 10$ differential goes to the the stylist depending on their experience. In Carlos' exact words if someone has 2-5 years of exp. It's 85 dollars. If someone has 25 years of experience, it's 95$ .now I don't know about y'all. But I'd say that's absolutely ridiculous pricing, to not even consider factoring the price with the product usage that way some one with extremely thin hair pays the same price for haighlights as someone who has so much hair, they break hair ties. That's A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN PRODUCT USAGE FOR THE SAME PRICE. My second issue with that is why is some with 20+ years of exp. Only making 10$ more than someone with 2-5 years experience. Other high end salons I have been to I made an appointment for a hair consultantion, and they start by assessing the length, texture, and thickness of my hair to predict the amount of product and time it will take, then the price fluctuates from person to person depending on those three specifications of a person's hair. So I with my tiny amount of thin hair will be charged the same as some with thick long hair who will use twice the amount of product for highlights.
It's absolutely ridiculous. And when I asked these questions to Senor Carlos, he was rude, interrupting me, and said that I was insulting him by asking such questions.
Can't wait to come in a use a 100$ gift certificate to have my hair washed for 32$ and have 1 1/2 inches of split ends cut off for 45$. ...
Read moreI’m writing on behalf of my wife who has a really unfortunate experience with this salon. Initially, she had a positive experience changing her hair color to brunette and enjoyed working with a particular stylist at the solon. However, subsequent visits over the past few weeks, after her preferred stylist's departure, have been disappointing. Despite booking an appointment online and arriving on time, she was informed that the process would take too long and had to reschedule. She was promised that in the next appointment, her desired hair coloring would be completed with no issues. Arriving at her next appointment she faced another setback when an employee expressed discomfort with bleaching her hair. Despite multiple attempts, her desired outcome hasn’t been achieved, leaving her frustrated. She requested a discount for the inconvenience of traveling and paying for long parking sessions, which was promised to be discussed with the owner, yet she hasn’t received a follow-up call as assured and she instead had to reach out a week after the fact and was met with apologetic hosts apologizing for the owners lack of professionalism.
After a week or of calling the salon, with promises of the owner being contacted by the host to reach out to my wife, she eventually received an email from the owner after having directly emailed him. Very similar to the comments on negative reviews here, the owner seemed uncaring of his customers and instead seemed unapologetic for the extremely delayed responses and the negative experience my wife has faced. It seems the owner is more interested in pushing blame on his customers rather than taking any responsibility.
As her husband, I find this lack of professionalism and coordination unacceptable, as it has resulted in wasted time and money for my wife. I imagine the stylists have no control and are great at what they do, but if they promise or you expect to have any interaction with the owner, prepare to be extremely disappointed.
Edit 5/22: to the business owners reply- Thank you for your reply. You responded faster to this negative review than to my wife's original emails. She went to a different salon and received her desired coloring in a single session. It may be time to update your staff training and improve customer service, as she had no issues at the other establishment unlike what she...
Read moreWax I don’t usually do this but given my experience I feel it’s more than necessary. I had a wax appointment on Monday afternoon, September 5. This is my second time visiting Salon Di Marco for this type of service (third overall). The first Brazilian wax I had here was OK, nothing to rave about, but I decided to go back anyway. Second time was absolutely awful. They use a wax (that’s supposedly not wax) called Nufree. This wax is supposed to be better for you, more beneficial. On my first visit the wax was a light blue color, this time it was a honey color like normal soft wax is. When she applied the first strip it was VERY sticky, like extremely. Her hands were sticking to me. I asked if this was the same wax we used last time, she assured me it was. I naturally have pretty stubborn hairs, but I have NEVER had a wax lady re-wax the same spot as many times as she did. You’re only supposed to go over the hair twice (and that’s with hard wax). This lady is using soft wax (idc what they say it is) and going over my sensitive areas 5+ times in one setting. I’ve been getting waxed for 3 years and this was by far my worst experience. When I got home, I discovered there was wax INSIDE. This made my private area burn something crazy. The pain was so excruciating when I got home that I could not move. I bled from my skin being torn. Nothing could touch me down there. It’s three days post wax and there are scabs everywhere. This experience has severely scarred me. Sadly, I can not return to “give them another chance.” Pray for my healing,...
