I found this venue to be pretty standard compared to typical places. Being from Omaha, NE, I would compare it to attending a show at Sokol Auditorium but perhaps a little smaller, with a floor layout more like the Slowdown. Maybe I'm just used to it but I didn't think the place was particularly dirty, just old and in need of a little TLC. The sound was decent but not overwhelmingly amazing. The drinks were at a fantastic price point so I'm not sure why others say it was super expensive. We got tequila sunrises for 4 bucks a piece which is a steal compared to the 8+ we were expecting to pay. Someone pointed out to us that it was technically a college campus so perhaps that's where the expectation comes from... anyway, I was happy with my experience for the most part. Still not quite sure why the staff had us get numbers for a general admission show... they said it was in case a mob screwed up the lines or whatever but to me it defeats the purpose of general admission. I can imagine I'd go there often for shows if I was local. Will possibly watch them for tours after seeing what acts they've pulled to play there historically. Overall a decent experience. I'd feel safe going there alone. The staff were perfectly decent to us so I really have no complaints about the venue for what it is.

Still my in my top two places to see live music in #lfk, 20+ years & runnin'! The sound here is pretty incredible for a small venue, and their lighting is great, too. We just saw Trevor Hall, probably my 50th or so show here, whom I wasn't super familiar with and only knew about half the songs even, but it was a great show nonetheless. The balcony is always a good bet for seeing the stage better, as well as for faster bar service if the two other downstairs/main level bars are crowded and busy. I asked the long-time bartender to suprise me and make what we ended up deeming a '(double) Vacation In a Glass,' (it'd been a LoNg week đ).... and it was divine! Likely made with rum, pineapple, cranberry, malibu, etc., it was cheap and delicious. The Granada isn't always the cleanest venue in Lawrence, nor is it the biggest, but it's not too intimate either. There's plenty of room on the dancefloor up front AND on the sides of the center sound booth, which are my favorite spots to be. If you can get up to the front railings on either side, you won't be sorry, OR give up your spot...the best stage-viewing, in my opinion. I hope this place stays open FOREVER. We LOVE seeing shows at the Granada. â¤ď¸

The staff is always helpful and friendly. I volunteer to do photography for the River City Rock Camp where young kids learn how to play in a rock band. The Granada gives them the opportunity to play at a popular venue. Pretty awesome of them to host this event. It's one of the many things that makes Lawrence a cool place to live. We have local companies that help make this happen and the Granada is one of them. Update: Saw Scary Pockets this past weekend (10/7/23). Great performance all round. What a fun band. Update: Did the photography thing here again recently. I know I've said it before but I will say it again. The staff here are awesome. Everyone from the front door, bar tenders, management and sound engineer. I arrive at sound check and don't leave till the show is over. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The facilities are top notch too, not too long ago they updated the venue. It was good before but they really did a nice job of it. A number of really nice things for the talent. The Granada continues to be one of the premier venues in Lawrence.

It was my first visit to this venue for Jinjer's concert. The venue was much smaller inside than the pictures depicted. The balcony area and a few raised platforms make for an interesting layout, however I wouldn't say it was the best venue for a metal concert! No food available, just drinks. Bathrooms were ok. Standing room only. The acoustics of the building didn't do the metal bands justice in my opinion. AUG 16 Update: We went to watch Polyphia. Because their sound is more focused on the guitar playing, I felt that the acoustics of this venue DID do justice this time around, as opposed to my previous thoughts on if the venue was right for heavy metal. The venue hadn't changed much from my previous review( please see above) Just wish they decided on adding some seating soon. Polyphia are definitely in a league of their own and I felt really excited to have seen then live for the first time. Pure outstanding talent from Tim and peeps!

So, last night was my first time ever visiting the Granada. I read the reviews first before I made the decision to come out to the Eric Bellinger concert. I was skeptical because many reviews said there was no a/c, it smelled and the staff was rude. Let me start by saying I didnât experience any of that. Upon walking in, the air was nice and cool. Being that it was 99 degrees outside, I was happy about that. There was no smell and the staff was friendly, very welcoming. Yes, there is a dress code, the website has it posted so if you donât read it beforehand and you come out to the Granada with a prohibited item, youâll be turned away. The venue is small enough for an intimate event. It allows the guests to get close to the performer, which I loved so much. I enjoyed my night and it was worth the 1 hour drive. Iâll be back soon!

Very small venue but comfortable and clean as well. Standing room only. I didn't venture around to the bathrooms or anywhere else so can't comment on any of that. The staff were all so amazing, from the ones who greeted us as we camped outside from 7am the day BEFORE, all the way til door times the day of, and handling the insane bs from the day of from other people upset they had to honor those of us who stayed overnight. Everybody that worked there that I came in contact with had it together and handled. So appreciative for them. The sound inside, the lighting, I have zero complaints. Everything went smooth. There is a bar..I didn't stop at it but it looked like it was running smoothly the little bit of time I took to look over.
