I went to have them change battery for a Tissot. Quite simple task for professionals right? Nope, they heavily scratched the battery cover. I know they did this because I had inspected the back of the watch just the night before as I wanted to see if I could open it up without proper tool, i.e. case opener.
Quite ironic, though, that I did not bother to inspect it after they handed me the watch back, because I thought the whole idea of going to a Jewelers store was to avoid messing up the watch yourself and to have the peace of mind. Now that I am left with a watch with damaged case cover.
For a moment, I thought about going back and question them but then felt that it really is not worth it, considering the value of the watch (~$300) and the hassle I might run into -- they might say whatever they want after 3 hours that I have left their store -- and it's going to be a wast of my precious time. More importantly, I do not have a way other than my own consciousness to prove that they did this to my watch...
Rant over, the moral is, do not take a Rolex (or even any cheaper watch) to this place. Otherwise, be ready to risk the completeness of your watch. In addition, always check your watch right before and after the watch is switched hands at the store, so you can give those incompetent Jewelers hell of a time and make them PAY for their...
Read moreI feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone what with my experience versus the other reviews, but here goes. Bummer to have to post this. This is an email I sent to the store. Never did get a reply:
Hi, Hope this finds you well. I’m following up about my recent experience with you all.
I brought in a modestly-priced Fossil watch for a battery replacement and cleaning. The watch cost $75; the cost of service (with a new crystal added to the work) was $85. That’s okay — I expected to pay a fair amount once the crystal was added to the work. However, there were some problems:
I dropped off the watch but never got a call back as to the cost of the job or approximate finish date. I walked in a week later and got a price for the work but no completion date. Then, a week or so later, I’d not heard whether the work was done, so I dropped in again and learned the work was complete.
Lastly, and most importantly, though the watch was cleaned as best I could tell, the band still showed some grime in its creases and on the buckle. I took a picture of the buckle — there was a very noticeable blob of something on it. Pretty gross. Please let me know your thoughts.
Hope the rest of you all have a better experience with what appears to be a longstanding and...
Read moreI worked alongside an employee named Kiara (Unfortunately I am probably spelling the name incorrectly). I do not have enough positive things to say about her and the rest of the staff here. In particular she was extremely great about getting back to me ASAP. When I began ring shopping I took my soon-to-be fiancé with me and she got the idea that she wanted to design a ring. Kiara was eager to help and showed us many options within our low price range. We went along with this idea for about a month with regular updates from Kiara and the rest of the staff. Then, all of a sudden, my fiancé decided she would prefer to be surprised with the ring instead of designing it herself. I called Kiara and told her this news...expecting her to be annoyed about spending all her time that she had worked on this custom ring. To my surprise she wasn't bitter in the slightest about having put all that effort into a custom ring and within a week got me a differnt ring that I picked out( with the help of about a million Pinterest pictures from my fiancé) in time to surprise my fiancé. Truly a wonderful staff. I cannot recommend Kiara enough. Thanks for everything Marks Jewlers. God...
