Massad’s Gift Shop is the epitome of ‘locally owned’ and is a true gem of Lawton. At the time of writing this review, I just missed Massad’s 42 anniversary… And I mean, missed it by one day. Currently owned by brother and sister duo, Larry and Blanch Massad, the Gift Shop is just as much an amazing shop as it is a piece of Lawton history. While Larry was not present when I was there, I did get to speak with Ms. Blanch, who was just the sweetest store owner. Not only sweet, Ms. Blanch had some of the most intriguing stories of past customers and experiences, which lend themselves to the true treasure of the store and the Massad family.
Walking up to the store itself, you might just be blessed enough to see either of the store’s beautiful pups basking in the store window, enjoying the sun’s rays. Personally, I think this is a tactic to try and get you in just to sing, “How much is that puppy in the window?” Inside the store, you will always find a smiling face, willing to help out, give you ideas, or just chat about whatever the day's topic is. Each time I have been in the store, I have always been met by pleasant staff. The store itself is a cornucopia of colors and sounds all making up what could best be described as some of the best and most unique gifting ideas around. When I say unique, I mean it. Speaking with Ms. Blanch, you might just find a few items that come from a lot farther than the opposite side of the state. And the store is ever-changing, if you are gone for a month, you can expect to get lost in new isles of items for a new season. But you will also always find the cornerstones of the store, their clocks ticking away in the back… If nothing else, just walk in to look at these beautiful pieces of art and watch them in motion.
I could go on and on and still miss some other small aspect of this shop to talk about. The best thing I can say is take a second to walk in and enjoy the atmosphere, the store, and most importantly the people. You will not regret it. Trust me. And if you made it this far, I will offer up this little treat. If you do walk in, and you do see a kind little lady manning the store counter… politely ask if she has any coffee brewing. 😊...
Read moreMy son was in the car waiting for me I came back and he was looking at the store. I asked him if he wanted to go check it out he said yes. We went in looking around most friendly people I've met in a long time. The store owners were awesome extremely nice. They have a whole bunch of nice gifts and a little bit of everything. My son liked the four leaf clover coin and I was going to buy it for him but the gentleman said it was a gift from him and his sister for bringing us into the store. I just wanted to say thank you again to the owners for a great experience and we'll be back to bring my wife!!!! This is a little gift I got while we are there for my wife I think...
Read moreMy job has me driving all over Texas to Nebraska but anytime I'm in Lawton I HAVE to stop by here. The owners are very nice/good people and very knowledgeable about everything they sell. The store itself is just a delight and makes me happy just walking in. I always go in just to look around but I always walk out with a few treasures. It's a gift shop where I find a few things for family and friends but I can't help finding a little something for me. Do yourself a favor if you are in the area and stop by this place. You'll be happy to know such places still exist...
