The Deerskin Leather Shop — Local services in Leacock Township

My wife and I have been going to Kitchen Kettle Village for years. Every time we go "the leather place" is usually a first stop after the parking lot. They do have a wide variety of items from pocket knives to full length coats. You will find something that catches your eye and the leather smell in the shop is awesome. Sometimes we just look sometimes we find items we purchase. The staff has always presented as very helpful and knowledgeable. In early August we stopped in the store for a specific women's purse that we knew from an earlier trip they carried. By the time we finished we had the bag and several other items that totaled a few hundred dollars. We paid for our items and moved on to the rest of the shops. In late September we found a surprise in our mail. Someone at the store took the time to write a HAND WRITTEN card thanking us for our purchase. There were also several kind words hoping we were enjoying our SPECIFIC (yes the individual items) purchases. I was and still am blown away by this. I cannot recall ever receiving a hand written note from a store. It says a lot that they took the time to sit and write something and not fire off a form from the computer or not to do anything at all. There was no signature it was just from deerskin leather but I am sure at the least a manager was aware if not the owners themselves. It made us feel good (instead of indifferent) about spending our money with them and would definitely recommend at least stopping in just for the smell when visiting Kitchen Kettle VIllage. We...

On 5/7/22, sometime after 11am,I walked in to Deerskin Leather Shop with my husband. We were looking for something specific and decided to walk up to the counter. An older man was talking to two young men behind the counter while a female, also behind the counter was attending to something. We stood at the counter for several minutes. The man never acknowledged we were standing there. We politely left the store and spent our money elsewhere. We are African American and I hope that is not why we were ignored. There is no way we could not be seen standing right at the counter. A simple "we will be right with you" would have sufficed. We were with a large group shopping that rainy morning. Without a picture of the mens leather jacket, stock number and given very little information Jennifer (sales associate) managed to know which jacket I wanted to purchase for my husband for Christmas. I only spoke to her over the phone. She moved forward and ordered the jacket from Italy without a deposit in November. She told me straight up the jacket may take 10 to 12 weeks to arrive. There would be no notice from their supplier in Italy...the jacket will just show up . Two days after Christmas I got a call from the store to say the jacket was received (Jennifer left me the message).
