I ordered a turkey breast from Stoltzfus Meats (Website) because I was hoping to avoid the additives that are in other frozen turkey products in the grocery store. Their website says this is an all natural turkey. See my photos.
Butterball's whole turkey tenderloin ingredients are: whole turkey tenderloin, water, contains 2% or less of salt, sugar, natural flavors (including vinegar).
Stoltzfus' boneless turkey breast roast ingredients are: Turkey, up to 28% marinade of salt, sodium phosphate, hydrolyzed corn protein, onion powder, dextrose, natural spice extractives (including celery seed).
I thought I was purchasing a better product straight from the farm- guess not!! I am extremely disappointed and will not purchase another item from them! Their advertising is misleading and false.
I have emailed the company- and received a response that states it's claims on their website are true. Yet their ingredient list states: 100% brined boneless turkey breast. They do not list other ingredients. They questioned my concern about their ingredients but offered no remedy for taking my $85. Beware!! They do not think their customers should know things like dextrose, hydrolyzed corn protein (used in cosmetics), and sodium phosphate are in their meats.
Do your research people!
UPDATE: I received a call from an owner at Valley Belle (where the turkey is from). I appreciate his attentiveness, integrity, and apology- although the issue is with Stoltzfus Meats. He explained the ingredients listed and that Valley Belle chooses to be transparent rather than list natural ingredients. We had a twenty minute phone call!
I received a second email from Stoltzfus (after I filed a formal complaint) specifying they would provide a refund. I received my...
Read moreThe best meat in the world, the best salads (red potatoe is fantastic), chicken salad, ham salad, cheese, sweet bologna, pickles, soup (the chicken corn is amazing). We shop here every time we travel through. It is our first stop. The bakery is amazing with so many fresh baked goods. You can get 1/2 pie like we love to do. The breads and rolls are fantastic. We have gotten hooked on the peanut butter cups and the peanut butter balls with raisins are one of a kind. Amos' Place is our second stop. We love the breakfast - try the scrapple egg and cheese sandwich on their own homemade roll is delicious with their own mango salsa. Also try the sausage scrambler, pancakes. Lunch is amazing - the burgers are so good, the sandwiches too and the soup is homemade and so good. Their sausage is the best in the world - so their lunch sandwich with peppers and onions is so good. Even if we are in a hurry driving through we stop in every time. The staff are super nice as well from the owner to the managers to the deli people...
Read moreFirst let me say that we are locals who try to support your store as often as possible. We were traveling by at 4:54 and needed some 90% ground beef. We stopped in knowing that the store closed at 5 but I truly thought I had time. I ran in and the entire meat case was empty! I walked up to the counter and asked the guy behind the counter (I didn’t get his name) if I could get 1.5 pounds of 90% ground beef. With a smile on his face he said “we have put it away for a special project we are working on.” I said “well you don’t close for another 6 minutes.” He smiled and said “sorry we cannot get you any.” I was a bit taken back by his flippant attitude and lack of customer service skills. If I treated my customers like this I wouldn’t have a job. If your store closes at 5 then the products should be available until that time. If your meat case closes at 4:45 then it should be stated as such! To say I am disappointed in how I was treated today is an...
