Wouldn’t consider it a “food service” store as the terminology would normally be understood. Prices were a bit higher than the already elevated prices of our current economy. One or two condiment bulk sizes were indeed good deals. The rest were high against the supply chain in the area. A few items you wouldn’t normally find at local grocery stores or bulk store locations. Definitely a selection of northern food product lines I was unfamiliar with. Some seemed interesting enough to give a try in the future. The frozen seafood section was definitely high given we live on the Gulf Coast and can get that locally sourced and fresher at better prices.
Most of the fresh meat section seemed to be in line with the already overly inflated prices we see these days. They were running a sale on boneless skinless chicken beasts at 1.29 a pound so, it seems they’ll have good deals periodically. Loose in bags. No problem, vacuum packed at home and frozen. Tortilla making set up and the price was definitely good on those. They looked ok, needing finishing on the comal as most do. Didn’t need any this trip, will try in the future.
Summation, a decent little periodic store. I think the location choice is going to be it’s demise in the long run. Whoever did their research on location definitely doesn’t understand the local traffic patterns or the demographics. If it would have been located closer to 646 and the shopping patterns prevalent in that area, the store might have stood a decent chance. Give it five years tops where it’s located.
Came back to edit, I forgot something that caught my attention. They had vacuum packed T-Bones steaks that were cut the thinnest I’d ever seen in my life! Literally about a half an inch thick. We joked that you’d cook them by holding with the tongs and waving them over the coals a couple of times. 🤣 Seriously, if the store owners read this, get rid of those. Put something else in the wasted space. Know your demographics…this is Texas. We eat T-Bone steaks that are about 2...
Read moreThis is a bulk grocery store that has some tasty products. This store is basically a combination of a Sam’s or Costco with a small grocery store. You do not need a card or membership for this store. They have a lot of bulk products and some regular sized ones. The size of the store is about the size of a neighborhood Walmart. They had some good looking products and I also got to try a few through samples. They also had some bulk favorites like Bluebell Ice Cream.
Today was opening day, and when I first walked in I was given some samples. The first was some guacamole which was good guacamole, the avocados were ripe and it was seasoned well with tomatoes and onions. Next, they had some chicken salad which was a bit chunky but pretty good. I was also given some caramel and cheese popcorn from their gourmet popcorn and it was really good, especially the caramel popcorn. Lastly was the fresh orange juice.
I ended up coming home with some green apple popcorn corn to try, but it is important to note for those with celiac disease or a gluten allergy that the store’s gourmet popcorn is currently not guaranteed to be gluten free.
Overall this is a nice new store and I look forward to seeing it more...
Read moreIt’s good to have a “grocery” store back in this part of town. Not really a full grocery store but will be a good place to come for a lot of items. Produce looked good and I thought prices were in line or better than other local grocery stores. A lot of bulk items with some regular size items as well. Good prices on soft drinks (35 can packs), and I tried a in-store baked sandwich roll that was large and very good at 3/$1 in self serve bin. They have in store made tortillas and popcorn (several varieties) and other in house made items. This is definitely a good place to come if having to cook for a large group or looking to buy meat in bulk and etc. But also regular size of many items...
