Had a great night out with the family and decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. Arrived a few minutes before 8pm on a Saturday and there was only two other people in the restaurant. I was like ok, a bit weird but we are going to give it a try. After being seated we had our drink orders taken and chips and salsa hit the table. For the people that like a bit more normality during these times then this is right up your alley. Salt and pepper on the table, it was like a breath of fresh air. The chips are slightly thick with a good crunch and the salsa has a tad bit of heat, decent taste as well. Decided to try something different and we ordered the
Chimichanga Ranchera with chicken. 5/10 Served with rice and beans. The chimichanga was decent but the ranchera sauce needs some help, it lacked any real flavor. The rice is your basic restaurant rice, nothing special and the refried beans were bland as well. It was not horrible but not something I would ever order again.
Chili Con Queso Chimichanga with chicken, peppers and onions. 6/10 Served with rice and beans. The queso is really good and gives the chimichanga a decent flavor. The peppers and onions need a bit more time on the flat top.
Cozumel 6/10 The dish is pretty good, the only complaint is a lack of flavor. The tilapia, shrimp, and cream sauce kinda meld together with the melted cheese on top. Served with charro beans and rice. The charro beans are decent but seem to be on the same boat as everything else, more flavor. Tortillas are homemade with a decent flavor.
Fajita Flameada with Chicken. 7/10 This dish is pretty good, the chicken was a bit overcooked but overall not too bad. The chorizo was ok but like everything else lacked any real flavor. This place is definitely not the worst place to eat but overall could use a flavor lift. The customer service was good, maybe a bit more attention to empty chips and salsa but still good. Give it a try, it might be...
Read moreA friend and I decided to have lunch there on a Monday afternoon. The food was okay, wasn’t anything special in my opinion, but what was the problem was the wait staff. Our waitress was so rushed, forgetting our orders, coming back several times worth he same question. After we received our food it wasn’t correct, but we told her we would eat it anyways. As we were eating she brought us our bill and thanked us for our visit...... and proceeded to stand there staring at us waiting for our payment of choice. We told her we didn’t need anything more and she said “ I am waiting on your payment...” rudely. So we stoped our lunch go get our cards out. She left and returned with the ran cards and we proceeded to eat our lunch. She checked on us 3 times after that asking if we needed anything else. She brought us boxes without us asking for them and then returned a 4th time saying she needed our receipts. We were so mad with how rushed we were and we weren’t even there an hour. Just...
Read moreWe have been customers of El Centinela for years and have historically enjoyed the service and food. However, today the staff was off. Granted today was Mothers Day but even then you would think that the restaurant would put their best foot forward knowing that they would be busy. We sat for several minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Then another long wait just to have our food order taken. Then another unusually long wait for our food to arrive. .Never once did anyone come by to ask if our drinks needed to be refilled or if there’s anything that we needed which we did. We finally waited over 20 minutes to get our check and a box to go. Had this been our first visit, I’m not sure that I would return That said the food is incredible so we will give it another try on another day and hope this visit was...
