Aldi may not be the store for everyone, but if saving money is a main goal for you, you will love it. The selection is not close to what you get from the big box stores but the prices are great and the produce is much fresher than what is offered at the Wal-Mart just down the street. Aldi has brands we'd never heard of before but other than not caring for their canned veggie soup we have been very happy with the quality of all the other products we've purchased here.
Saving money is important to me. For instance, their cereals are at least $2.00 cheaper than name brands, yet taste the same. My husband is a big fan of Honey-Nut Cheerios. He claims the Aldi version tastes identical to the name brand. So why pay extra?
Dairy, meats, canned and frozen foods have all been of a very good quality too. We both only eat white turkey meat, too buy a whole turkey is a waste of money in our household. Thanksgiving week I bought a small, frozen, white meat only, turkey roast for "leftover" sandwiches. It was from an Aldi's offered brand rather than the more common Butterball brand. You guessed it, less expensive plus it was delicious!
The selection of household items such as dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, or bleach is not nearly as extensive as at big box stores. You many only find two or three types of dish soap offered at Aldi as opposed to half an aisle full. The paper towels may not come in a dozen colors or patterns either. This to me is not a problem, It's a blessing, I don't like spending all that extra time searching mega shelves or asiles, plus I'm not married to certain brands. Aldi stores are NOT huge mega shopping centers so don't expect to find hundreds of brands or varieties of the same item.
They used to NOT accept credit cards, NOW THEY DO. Note, you will need a quarter to "rent" a cart, but you will get your quarter back when you return it to the cart area in front of the door from the parking lot. You will bag your own purchases at a long counter up front after paying for them at the check out. Bring your own shopping bags or purchase them there. I tend to use reusable bags from Publix/Walmart plus a couple recycled plastic ones for fresh meats or other possible drippy items. These small inconveniences are well worth the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou know I always enjoy the cleanliness of the store. Then fresh fruit produce as well as other brands that the larger chains who will remain nameless don't have there. I believe German owned and operated I find it a pleasant shopping experience 100% of the time probably the only drawback is they have some weird going on with their aisles they seem to end right at the entrance for your check, sometimes people don't know whether people are shopping or standing in damn linethe last thing anybody better do is say a damn thing to me about waiting in line when I'm waiting in line I keep my mouth shut and wait for everybody to go and when I get up there I want the same courtesy keep your damn mouth shut I apologize if that was abrupt and blunt I didn't mean to bludgeon you with it. You do know I invented the concept of waiting in line? Prior to that event, everybody just milled around nobody knew what the hell's going on. I organized that myself thanks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was very surprised how clean and kept the store was. They did have two people on the cash register and they were following policy by sitting down while they were scanning all items I did see three or four different people so called employees walking around and moving things around and stacking things it looks like a lot of people having an Audi and it looks like they have at least not all the time. Iām not sure where the Right now seems like a lot of people are coming and they want what they need.
I was looking for certain items that I canāt find at Publix and I know I canāt afford them. I know sometimes that other locations do have them, but I used to go to Food Lion in Kroger and I really missed the days of save a lot in stores like that, they would give me discounting coupons because all the stores nowadays all they wanna do is just do a Bogo buy one get one before they do the Bogo they raised...
