So sorry this is long but - I seriously couldn't be happier with my experience at True Society! I walked in fully expecting to leave empty handed, but let me tell you the stars were FREAKING ALIGNED with this one. So slight background about my dress: I pinned this dress months ago on Pinterest as a ādream dress inspoā never did I think I would actually buy it because I was just sure it would be too expensive or not look good on my shape body (I'm super top heavy - 42G). Then I had the idea that maybe I could find it, used, online for cheaper - but I needed to know my size. I looked at the designers page (Essence of Australia) and booked an appointment here because it was the closest shop to my house that carried it and they told me they had the exact dress I was interested in so I could try it on along with other dresses. As a plus size bride in the size 18 to 20 range I had low expectations. I was SO AMAZED by my experience though and happy to be wrong. From the moment I walked in everyone was so kind to me and my guests. I also loved how careful and respectful they were with all the Covid precautions. Jessica was my helper and she did an amazing job! I never felt judged, disrespected, or looked down on in the slightest. At one point I asked about sizing on a dress I was trying on and I could tell she was trying really hard to make sure I didn't feel bad if the number on the tag was bigger than I was expecting. When I told her I was very body positive and don't care what the tag says as long as it looked good she just said "Oh! I love that!" which I thought was refreshing and very respectful compared to the typical, kind of condescending, respond people usually say of "Well good for you!". In the end, I tried on 5 or 6 beautiful dresses including the exact dress that brought me to the store (D2603) and I was amazed it fit me PERFECTLY. I feel absolutely beautiful in it and unless I drastically change weight for some reason, it doesn't even need any alterations. I have gotten nothing but compliments from anyone I have showed the pics to. The only thing that might be seen as negative about it is that this specific dress was "off the rack" basically meaning other people had tried it on and it had tiny (very minor and fixable) flaws that make it sold as is. For my dress this meant one of the elastic loops for the buttons on the back was broken and the zipper was missing the pull tab (Shown in pics). Personally I didn't mind at all cause you cant even tell PLUS because of this, the dress was 30% off so it was $600 cheaper! I was ecstatic! The dress of my dreams for slightly under $1400? Sign me up! I walked out with it that day. After having walked in fully intending to not buy anything. Overall me and my family were SOOOOOOO IMPRESSED. So much so that my older sister (who came with me) who is also getting married soon, already made her own appointment (just at their other location cause its closer to her). I will forever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe LOVED the dresses at Belle Vogue Bridal! We really thought they had the most beautiful dresses in Kansas City and their customer service was excellent! We would give them 5 stars for everything except their alterations, they were unfortunately a nightmare for us! The first person on the list that we were told was their best was constantly overbooked, and refused to work on the top of our daughter's dress. It took us a long time to even see her the first time, her appointments were literally on top of each other, she had the dress for a very long time and we really felt like she had little concern for the finished look of our daughter's dress. She said the salon ordered the wrong size and style for her and that her only choice was to shorten the straps. She shortened them and sent us out in a hurry, she was ALWAYS in a hurry! When we tried on the dress later that weekend at home our daughter couldn't even wear it more than a few minutes, it turned her shoulders raw. The straps were way too short. The original problem was not the straps but was clearly with the top as it was too big and had a huge gap in the front. She couldn't even wear it now. With only a few weeks to go we were devastated and decided to look elsewhere for help. We called Alterations by Heidi in Lenexa and she was amazing! She couldn't believe what we got back from our first alterations person and the money we spent (almost $500) and quickly agreed that the top did not fit. She had 3 or 4 ideas right away and said she would rebuild the top if she had to! We only had two weeks left before the dress was due back at Belle Vogue for pressing but she made three adjustments over the two weeks, completely reworked the straps in a different way, made several changes to the top, and it looked perfect! She was amazing! I would warn everyone, you have options! You should shop for alterations just as you shopped for your gown! If it doesn't feel right, don't go with it, keep looking! I will also add that Belle Vogue was very helpful with providing us new straps for her dress the very next day after I spoke to them, they were very nice but seemed unconcerned with their alterations person. Thank goodness for Heidi! She saved...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot only did I find my dream dress at True Society - Lenexa, I also had an exceptional experience. Before my visit I had gone to two other bridal stores and between the experience or gown selections I hadnāt found āthe oneā. Before my appointment at True Society I sent a list of dresses from their website that I was interested in trying on. Upon my arrival Macy was my stylist and she had remembered which dresses I had wanted to try on just off the top of her head! She took me around the store and allowed me to look at all their dresses to see if there was anything additional I wanted to try on - so fun! The two stores I went to prior hadnāt given me this opportunity which was really disappointing. Each dress I tried on Macy got me in comfortably and clipped them so well they fit me like a glove, whether they were my size or not, and I was able to get a true idea of the dress on my body. They also were great about giving me options such as different sleeves I could add or swap out, fabrics that could be done, etc. I left the first day having more than one that I was interested in and Macy didnāt make me feel pressured at all to decide that day. I scheduled a follow-up for a few days later and when I came back Macy had my top contenders ready to try on once more. I again experienced no pressure and fell in love with the dress I ended up selecting! Thank you Macy and Elesha for all your help!! Also overall kudos to the other ladies working there because as I tried on dresses some would stop and build me up and comment on how great I looked in something. The whole experience was wonderful and I ended up with a gorgeous dress that Iām completely...
