The Aldi's on 119th Street is less than a 15 minute drive from my home and my first choice market. They are all about high quality food for less. They keep the prices down by having you bag your own groceries, pay for or bring your own bags, return your own carts, and shelving food more as a warehouse with prices on the shelves rather than on specific items. Bring your own bags and a quarter for a deposit on a cart. You get the quarter back when the cart is returned to the corral. Aldis carries a variety of items of very good quality, many international items, bakery goods, excellent chocolates, and seasonal items at prices similar or lower than other grocery store's sale prices. If you find something you like it may not be available next trip, but if you can be flexible, you can always eat well for less than other markets. Bakery items are fresh and tasty. Meats are good, with lamb, duck, grilling meats available by season. Enough variety of cheeses to keep me happy. They even carry Irish butter. Produce is good but seems just enough riper than other outlets that it seems to go bad faster. Specialty and international items rotate but are always tasty. They stock enough items to throw a fairly posh cocktail party (if you putchase your upscale liquors at a specialty store). Aldis has one aisle of non grocery items that frequently change, but usually includes a few clothes, some toys, an appliance or two, potted plants, furniture, baking vessels, all at appealing prices, but nothing you can count on being available next trip. I begin shopping at Aldi's and if necessary complete the list at other larger, more expensive stores, but seldom need to go elsewhere. Stores outside of Kansas might offer limited wine, ale, and beer choices that are good for the price. In past years, stores have become cleaner with nice, helpful employees making me forget their warehouse environment. The stores on 95th Street and 119th are both clean and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlways rude employees and cashiers. It never fails. They never greet, never say thank you or anything at all , except "Here you go" when handing you the receipt or change, never make and eye contact, always in rush, and act so bothered, when no other customers are there to check out. I have noticed that they are nicer with white customers, so part of this attitude is probably race related.
I have been shopping at this Aldi for many years. Used to be aon a daily bases. Cashier and employees are always rude and act like they are a huge rush, and bothered by having to check you out. Unfortunately their self check out stations don't take cash like other grocery stores, so you are forced to interact with their employees for 20 seconds, but the disgust last for a long time.
I used to put with their rudeness, because I did not want to drive further to go somewhere else and because you they used to be cheaper than other places. That is no longer the case. They are as expensive as other grocery stores, and I am willing to drive a couple of extra miles to Worlds market ( 103rd and Metcalf ) . It is huge and prices are less than half. Today I made the mistake, thinking I'll just pick up a couple of things, even though I have not been there for a while. There was hardly any customers there. I ended up with 12 items, but then ended up disgusted with the girl's attitude that checked me out. Her name on the receipt says "Elle". Never again I will shop at Aldi, and specially this one no matter how far I have to drive. Customers : Save your selves at least 50% and drive to Worlds market ( 103rd and Matcalf ) which is 10 times the size of Aldi, to buy at much lower price groceries and not to put up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family has been shopping at aldi ever since it came to Olathe.. But the standard of care and customer awareness has vastly deteriorated since they moved to 119th. Today I came in and although there was a light on no one was present not a single person was up front. I had to actually seek someone to come and help me with my groceries. This is one of the benefits and things I love about all days is cuz I still actually have cashiers. There was probably about five or six people in the back They might be busy I get that but if you have a cashier you should have a cashier. And when she did come up she didn't greet me. She didn't say anything to me. I said hello to her and she seemed very pissed off at having to come up and check me out. So I brought that up to her and she said no this is just my face I don't know what I did to you I said well I'm sorry I interrupted what you were doing but if you're going to have a cashier I shouldn't have to stand around. I don't understand why it is that it is so programmed for us to have to do the job of the store. All the this is horrible. The kids that you are hiring are rude they don't want to help people they have no customer service skills and you're not teaching them to have customer service skills. I appreciate the cheap prices but not at the sacrifice of having to deal with rude employees that don't want to help. She made me feel like I should feel obligated to have to go to the self checkout instead of making her actually do something. I had quite a few groceries I didn't want to do this I'll check it out. And I had already put them up there. And I put them up there because the light was on. It's just really frustrating to constantly have to...
