I started researching rings on YouTube and found FP’s content informative. I also went to local jewelers and chains (Brilliant Earth, Blue Nile, …) and was able to learn the basics of diamond shape, ring design, and price points. I highly recommend going into local stores and getting some ideas of what you would like for your ring! Then I decided to set up a call with Jimmy to discuss my requirements and timeline in more detail. After the call, I received a few diamond options as well as a quote for making the ring. I liked how Jimmy was considerate with the budget I gave him. They truly want you to invest more in your actual marriage than breaking the bank just to get a ring. I wanted to see if I could beat their price and save more if I could just source my own diamond from a wholesaler, design it, and then have someone build the ring with the diamond. So I went on my own little journey while Jimmy was very patient and let me do my own research and price comparison.

I ended up finding a wholesaler website with a diamond I liked, which was also marked up by a couple of thousand on many other online retailers (Blue Nile for example). I also found the diamond that Jimmy recommended, and its price was close to the final quote of the entire ring he sent me. The reason for the savings is that they don’t keep much in-store inventory or have any retail stores, which saves a lot of insurance and overhead costs that local jewelers and chains have to pay for.

Due to the fomo, I purchased the diamond I found on the website. I took the diamond to local jewelers and ring manufacturers to get a quote on an 18k gold ring, and their costs were still much higher than what FP quoted me for design, material, and labor. Trust me, I had a full spreadsheet going and compared any local jewelers and online retailers I could find. In the end, I shipped FP the diamond, and they designed it with quick iterations and updates. In the end, they were able to create the ring we designed. The only small hiccup was that they accidentally used lab-grown accent stones, but they were able to swap them out for natural melees and covered all the shipping costs. Looking back, it would have been much easier for FP to deal with all that, as they can handle loose diamonds and shipment on their end, rather than me having to deal with all the logistics.

The package came with an appraisal report, which saves you at least $100 so you can get the insurance with Jeweler Mutual right away. I also went in person to get a ballpark estimate of the ring, and they were estimated at least 2-3x the actual cost. They also closely inspected the ring after polishing it and said the workmanship was great. The package also came with The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller, which re-emphasized the importance of investing in the actual marriage and understanding how God designed marriage for us. Also, a quick plug on FP Foundation, where they invest in our marriage by giving us more free books like Sacred Marriage, Love & Respect, The 5 Love Languages, and a whole library of books.

In terms of warranty, you get one free resize and 3 years of warranty for any normal wear and tear, polishing, and cleaning. They also pay for the shipping back. Highly recommend getting Jeweler Mutual, as that would cover the shipping insurance, and you can just pay for regular UPS or FedEx shipping.

Overall, I can’t recommend Faithful Platform enough for their mission, customer service, and the quality of the ring for the price you pay. Stop giving your money away to local jewelers, as they tend to pressure and guilt-trip men to spend more money than they need to, or to online retailers, where most of them are publicly traded companies with mainly profits in mind. I would send photos of rings I thought my future fiancée would like; Zach would send me several options for the diamonds I could purchase and their pros/cons; I would even send hand-drawn pictures of small design changes so Zach could tell me if my dreams were feasible; he would send back digital renderings (examples pictured) of what would be built. He took calls and texts at odd hours, even while waiting for the birth of his first child--THAT is crazy customer service!

Mike was also incredibly professional in the way he handled the purchasing details and all my questions. Anytime I reached out, he responded within minutes. When I started looking for a ring, I was skeptical about using an online provider and shipping such a valuable item in the mail. Mike assured me that FP assumed all the liability until the ring was in my hand and that shipping would be secure. The same was true when I sent the ring back for a complementary resize--I was a half-size off from what my fiancée needed, and that was fixed at no cost to us.

To be fully transparent, not long after I proposed, one of the small accent stones on my fiancée's ring was dislodged. I believe this was mostly due to the custom design I wanted the ring to have. Mike and Faithful Platform made sure we would be taken care of, and under their warranty policy, the ring was repaired for free while it was being resized. It's been several months now and we have had no further issues with the ring. The quality of Faithful Platform's customer care cannot be overstated.

For months on end, everyone that knows my fiancée has been awed by the ring Faithful Platform made for her. The custom design set the bar pretty high for my friends who are preparing to propose!
