We bought our first diamond and wedding bands from Moseley's over 24 years ago. I have purchased other pieces over the years for my wife from them. Monday, I took my son in to have two watch batteries replaced and a couple of links taken out of a watch band so that he could wear it. A nice young lady helped us and took the watches behind a door to work on them out of our sight. No big deal because these were not very expensive watches. She comes back with the watches and another female coworker stands behind her as she hands them to us. I looked down to check the time and noticed that it was not set to the current date/time. I didn't think much of it at the time and figured I would set it when we got home. We talked about getting a custom anniversary band made and some other jewelry repairs done there soon, paid the bill, and left. When we got home, I could not set my watch. One of the side push buttons felt like it was not striking against anything and was not working to set the digital portion of the watch. This watch has an analog and digital face. They way the two employees stayed in the back with the watches for what seemed like a really long time to just change two batteries and pull two links out makes me think that they knew the watch was messed up and they were just trying to get me out of there before I noticed the damage. I took the watch to a different jewelry store and they confirmed (right in front of me) that when the case was opened to replace the battery on my watch, a plastic seal has to be in the exact position for waterproofing. It's a dive watch and the jeweler had to take out the plastic ring and replace it correctly. Now the watch works correctly. It's sad that this happened, because my wife only trusted them to do repairs on her diamond but, after being dishonest about something as trivial as this... There is no way I will be making another purchase from them. (At least not the Lexington location, I haven't been back to the Columbia store in awhile) I can't condemn both locations based on one bad experience. The other jeweler told me that most repair shops set the time/date after a battery install to make sure the watch functions properly before the customer leaves. Makes sense to me. My watch is working thanks to another vendor but, always make sure you check any item that you have repaired before you leave a location. Lesson learned. UPDATE - 01/16/19 My watch stopped working altogether... UPDATE 01/17/2019 - Just spoke with Jeremy at the Lexington location and he wants me to bring the watch by and let them try to see what's wrong with it. Refreshing to see a business try to make...
Read moreI came in to see if I could get a custom engagement ring made based on a specific design I had found. However, my fiancĂ© and I were treated as second rate customers. We were brushed off, and they got our contact information only to never follow up. They also took no notes on what we wanted, did not ask a single question about specific design preferences, took no pictures of the specific design in question, and was focused more on putting up showcase jewelry rather than give us full service. We came in 30 minutes until closing, but that should not give the workers the right to act as though helping us is a chore. You would think that wanting to get a custom platinum piece would at least make them excited to help but no. We were in and out in less than 3 minutes, which is horrible when I came in for a custom consultation. I went to Sylvanâs in Columbia after a week and a half of no contact. I was treated well, the sales person was engaged with our ideas, they asked questions, and tried to make our dream come true. This process in its entirety took an hour and some change, and it felt like no time at all based on how excited everyone involved in the process was. All of which Moseleyâs failed to do. I want to support local businesses as I reside in the Lexington area, but I refuse to accommodate flippant disregard toward the most important piece of jewelry in my soon-to-be wifeâs life.
Edit: Changed to 5 stars. Mr. Moseley reached out and was extremely courteous. Mistakes happen, and the ability to rectify and lead change once alerted is commendable. I hope to be able to use this establishment some time in the future with a...
Read moreThe best possible experience anyone getting engaged could have. My (now âșïž) fiancĂ© and I started looking around at different jewelers throughout the Columbia area. We went to many different places and I tried on several rings. I (as most females hate matching) knew I didnât want just a duplicate ring I wanted something unique.. something that was just mine. We went to Moseleyâs diamonds and first thing the staff was amazing! Everyone is so positive and helpful. While trying on they actually have a sample ring to try on different sizes/shapes for diamonds/bands that is magnetic. That was actually very useful! Mr. Moseley met with us and designed the most amazing band. Exactly what I envisioned plus more. He then later met with my fiancĂ© to pick out the diamond and put my DREAM ring together. I now have a ring that I for a fact get stopped 1-2 times daily at minimum and asked where my ring is from or just get a WOW THAT IS BEAUTIFUL. I know for my fiancĂ© Mr. Moseley made the nerve wrecking experience for a man super painless. He helped out every step of the way but let him pick out exactly what he wanted. Also I should mention that they stay true to sticking to your price range which is super nice! Another big pro I found was they design and make the ring right in the store, it doesnât get shipped off to some manufacturer. That was very important to me. If you are looking for a diamond ring that is unique, beautiful, super sparkly, and with all the best help you want I 100% would recommend...
