Please do not take your wedding dress here. Throughout the entire process, I felt like Sonia did not listen to what I was seeing or wanting in alterations. Sonia had my dress for four months but barely any changes were made until the two weeks before my wedding. When she claimed it was finished, the dress was still too big but the open back was gaping (she took in an open back dress from the sides not from the back). She also tried to debulk the top of the front of the dress but left one side much bigger than the other. She kept insisting that it looked good but I never felt uglier. I said the dress was still too big and she said absolutely nothing could be done about it. I felt like she was gaslighting me and I ended up having a breakdown in front of her to which she responded to not worry so much. This was the week before my wedding.

I took my dress to a secondary tailor the week of my wedding to try and make the dress wearable. The secondary tailor was horrified by how Sonia handled my dress. They had to rip out every single alteration she made. They had to redo everything from how and where she took in my dress to how she did the bustle.

It was deeply unprofessional to take four months to alter my dress. If the dress had been finished 8 weeks after I took it to her, the situation wouldn't have been as bad as I would have had more time to take it to a different tailor to be fixed. Instead, I had to face rush fees and massive amounts of stress and emotional turmoil the week...

I have been a customer of Sonia’s in Lexington for 25 years. I would not trust any other dressmaker/seamstress. Sonia is a perfectionist and does a fantastic job with every item I bring to her shop. Sonia not only repairs and performs alterations on all of my clothing, but she also designs and makes new dresses, gowns, skirts, and pants with or without a pattern. Sonia is amazing! She has done projects both big and small for myself and my family since I was a child. Her work has been a part of so many milestones in my life...she altered my dress for my middle school graduation, she did my wedding dress alterations (BEAUTIFULLY, I might add) and just recently she was kind enough to do a last-minute adjustment for me so I could get my costume for King Richard's Faire just right. She's so friendly and helpful and always does amazing work....
