Today I had the worst shopping experience ever in this store!!!
When I spent almost half an hour trying and selected 6 items in the store . Upon checking out, the cashier Justin said this to me all of a sudden ”You can leave, I'm not selling these to you”. I was in such a good mood and thought he was joking, and smiled to him “I am sorry, what?” Then he replied to me with an unbearable attitude, "I'm serious, you know what you are doing, I know what you are doing, this is a private company, you have to leave now, or I will call the police". It turned out he was accusing me of being a bulk buyer and he was saying that Columbia have a policy regarding bulk buyer and not allowing to buy more than 5+ on the same styles or something. The funny thing was the SIX ITEMS, yes you are seeing it right only SIX ITEMS, are mostly in different styles and I bought them for friends and family just for the coming winter. He didn’t even look at the items.
I was a bit upset and thinking it is just an excuse, so I asked for the specific policy clause. He wouldn’t explain that and told me to call customer service, so I called. While I was waiting on an customer agent on the phone, he came and said “Leave now, or I will call the police.”, then he CALLED THE POLICE ON ME while I am on the phone with customer service. As an Asian female minority by myself, I was frightened and confused at the same time. Police came, heard both sides and saying it was his first time hearing about this bulk buyer policy thing, there might be some misunderstanding. Then he tried to calm me down, but I already burst into tears. They called the police on me for nothing, I felt so wronged and ridiculed for no reason. When I was asking for an explanation “Why didn’t you tell me at the first place while I am selecting them.”I remembered so vividly this “gentleman” Justin responded “That’s because you are wasting my time, so I let you waste your time ”. Completely no logic nonsense, nothing but hostile.
Finally, another staff came in between us and tried to defuse the situation, she checked me out and guess what, the total amount is $315!!!!!!! I guess this store doesn’t welcome any people to buy for more than $300, otherwise you will be labeled as bulk buyer, and being treated differently. But the “policy” is so strict at the first place, why checking me out later, I feel so bad they broke the “unwritten policy” for me. After calming down, I felt like they must mistaken me with some other person. If so, it would be worse, and unacceptable as it is discrimination at least towards certain appearance of people.
Yes I called the customer service afterwards, and guess what, the customer service gentlemen at the phone are not aware of the so called the bulk buyer policy. Who’s lying? This is the third time I went to this store and also the last time!!! I feel so insulted and will file a complaint to Columbia...
Read moreMe and my wife were shopping for an upcoming trip to New Hampshire, upon trying to get a dressing room a mid 50’s short haired blonde women helped me get a room but told us only one per dressing room but then had the back dressing room isles cluttered with display racks and boxes so there was almost no room to move outside the dressing room, the mirror was blocked by a giant display rack. We immediately felt uncomfortable as if we were being profiled by the employee, she would not leave the dressing room idle as I tried jackets on in the cluttered isle while another employee watched us from the shoe isle. We felt extremely uncomfortable and although we purchased what we needed from the store we vowed to never come back and to spend our money at another store. It felt very homophobic and we will never be back because of how much this experience shook us. So...
Read moreThe white male cashier didn’t want to greet me. I told him I needed to exchange one shoe for another because they sold me two of the same right shoes. He didn’t even want to look at them which were not worn. He didn’t even try to offer me anything. If I were white , he would’ve been kind and helped me. Al of the white associates treat black people in a racist manner. The end result was me putting the shoes on the counter and leaving with no resolution. Another profiled experience which no one gives a damn about. I’m calling corporate and we will have a resolution. The customer service at Columbia Sportwear only exists if...
