Wednesday November 2nd 2022 Clothes get marked down on Wednesdays but sells out quick & don't last until the end of the day. October 25th 2022 Festive cheese package $55. 12 types of aged, imported cheeses from all over the world & several pairing suggestions for each kind of cheese - good for 2-4 people. My birthday is coming up & I'm gonna do cheese & wine with a few girlfriends. What a treat to look forward to!
Super soft women's tube socks, 6 pairs on sale for $7. What a steal!
I'm helping organize a fundraiser in a few weeks & responsible for meatballs. Costco has a 6lb/140 count bag of beef meatballs for $20 (they're bigger than half ounce but smaller than 1 oz). It beats out 2 deals I found at bjs (although bjs does offer a cooked perfect gluten-free meatball) Thursday, July 28th, 2022 Costco's Kirkland brand came out with the BEST frozen gluten-free pizza I've ever had in my life! It's supreme, but thank god they left off the olives. Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, zucchini, red/orange/yellow peppers. chefs kiss thank you costco for continuing to consider those of us with celiac or who can't have gluten. There are a LOT of gluten free options at costco. Awesome prices & deals on all types of food, books, furniture, electronics, home goods, beauty products etc & even gas. I wish they had diesel.
Check the website to see when specific vendors will be there.
Employees are VERY friendly & try to go above & beyond to help. Hit up the food court on your way out - who can beat a soda & hot dog for $1.50?!
Annual membership is $60 & pays for itself! Shopping in bulk for a family of 5 comes in handy!
Visit between noon & 3 - you can sample all types of foods for free.
I used to love their pepperoni pizza. Unfortunately, I've been diagnosed with celiac disease & can't enjoy it anymore. I wish they offered a gluten free pizza without cross contamination.
Costco has dozens of gluten free options in general. Fresh, refrigerated, frozen, canned, etc, there are many official gluten free certified options. Impressed with the amount of protein shakes in bulk.
For days I'm crippled & cannot walk, there's always a motor scooter...
Read moreUpdate: Dogfood is now in the very back of the backety backest part of the store, but I still love this place! I think of Costco like a friend's place, but friend you pay to visit.
I can't help it. It's not free to join, but if you have a family, you will be so glad you have a membership.
Costco purchasing agents obviously take pains to ensure that the products carried in their stores are only of the highest quality. I'm one of those kinds of people who researches online before buying, and almost without fail, I find that Costco carries the product that my research indicates is of the highest quality available, and at a price that can almost never be beaten.
The staff here at Sanatoga is the best. One of the managers, Mike, has a personality very well-suited to his job. He exhibits an air of authority and calmness, while still willing to get down in the trenches and work the register in the cafeteria, when they get swamped.
One time, I was rushing, and accidentally dropped my rotisserie chicken. The man who collects the carts told the bouncer (membership card checker) on duty to radio for a replacement. Within minutes, Shane had brought out a replacement chicken for me. I had halfway expected it to be the smallest of the small, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Shane had obviously picked out a big replacement.
The cashiers & other staff members in general, are always friendly and smiling at this Costco. I occasionally visit the one in Manahawkin, NJ, and while the products are the same, the staff at the Sanatoga store, through a number of small actions, makes a noticeably greater effort to make me feel welcome and happy.
I also try to make as many major purchases here as possible, because I have completely bought in to the Costco philosophy, I have their credit card, which automatically gives me an extended 2-year warranty on whatever tech purchases I make with it there.
Membership is not free, but I find the benefits worth the cost.
Update 2023: Still love Costco. Not a huge fan of Citi's fees....
Read moreGiven that it's currently 5:14 on a Saturday and I only just realized they close at 6pm, I'm not going to get there today, and I really needed to get there today. Yes, could've should've would've - well, sorry, but a business such as Costco thinking 6PM is a good closing time for a Saturday - I can't imagine how that could possibly make economical sense, let alone any sense - like keeping your customers happy sense.
Google Maps is showing that it's currently "As busy as it gets" - with 45 minutes left until close. Some of us don't WANT to do Costco when it's as busy as it gets, and not having later evening hours just means it's mobbed all day on Saturday. I remember when they substantially cut back their hours across the board. It was stupid then, it's stupid still, and it was their worst decision ever.
Well, there was also the time when they stopped carrying real American cheese and swapped in Kraft Singles Congealed Oil Slabs (which literally forced me to get a BJ's membership cuz I'm Congealed Oil Slab-intolerant). That one little thing - no longer selling bulk American cheese? I'd never been in a BJ's before, but I have since spent well over $5000 there instead of at Costco, simply because BJ's does sell bulk American cheese (Land-o-Lakes, even!). Fun fact: in addition to being edible, 140 slices of real cheese don't have to be peeled out of 140 single use plastic sheets. Win-win.
At the time, I talked to the store manager about it (more than once), and I filled out one of their member suggestion forms BEGGING them to just bring back the real cheese, but nope... Well, BJ's thanks you, I'm sure...
Apologies for the cheese tirade. I like my cheese, what can I say...
Central point being, time to reevaluate your choices, Costco! Especially those hours. Really dumb, really member-unfriendly, and I just don't...
