Belk — Local services in Little Rock

Very unprofessional work personnel in the makeup and Clinique area- I walked around in circles watching the clerks help other customers who were just approaching and avoid me for at least 5 minutes. I approached 1 of the clerks, Debbie, hoping that I could get some help. I asked her a question, and she answered politely and turned and walked away before I could ask anything else. I walked around a bit more; I then approached Debbie again and asked who the manager was. She (Debbie) stated Renee- who was standing there watching everything. Renee didn’t ask me what my issue was and I spoke with Debbie about the entire time I was standing in the area & was not helped. Debbie then asked me what my name was after I said, “Your name is Debbie right and the manager’s name is Renee right.” They watched my write their names down while leaving the area. Debbie then asked me if I was interested in anything in Clinique. I told her no and I hated that I felt this way. Debbie stated, “Yeah. Me too” and turned and walked away. If I could give less than one star I would to the two salesmen that were supposed to be working in the shoe dept. on 9/28 at 5:15 PM. Also, I believe there was a young woman supposedly working in that area as well but they were all standing around doing nothing but waiting for 6:00PM to arrive even though it was 5:10. I would have probably bought two pairs of shoes instead of one if I could have gotten any assistance with someone looking for my size in the back. My heel broke while shopping at Costco and I needed a new pair of shoes to wear to dinner at 6 Otherwise I would not have wasted my time there. Finally when I found a pair myself and was getting ready to try them on, then one of the male clerks sauntered over thinking he would might make a quick sale with no assistance given at all. Nope! Choices in women’s clothing. Belk’s use to be awesome to shop at for dresses, skirts and blouses from 2019 and back. But now, I got to go and the choices to choose from was all for our elderly women clearly not for all types of backgrounds. My mom was even disappointed in their stock. Good if your 70 plus and if you looked a certain way. Happily found some cute shoes and jewelry… that’s it. Belk’s use to be that store I can count on to find a cute dress knee high or even right below the knee while still business casual, sexy without provocative. Let’s just say I’ll be back after I turn 70 in about 36 years. The staff was wonderful, except in the makeup department, bit standoffish (beautiful cream skin tone) no greeting from them whatsoever and no acknowledgement of our presence, but staff in the shoe departments was extremely friendly (also beautiful and chocolate caramel skin tones).
